I bought this during the pandemic. Easy to use. Makes a nice cup of latte.

This is a great price for an entry super automatic espresso machine. Gaggia makes quality machines. This machine will save money over time compared to getting something that requires expensive pods. I prefer the auto milk frother machines and currently use a 4300 Lattego which has super easy cleanup and produces decent espresso.

How does this compare to philips series 3/4? Lots of reviews say machine leaks water... did they buy new or used?

I bought this at the beginning of the pandemic as well. We actually used it so much that I didn't know how it would hold up so I returned it within the return window and bought a Breville Barista Express. The Breville is definitely more work and takes more time to learn and use but the plastic parts of the superauto didn't give me much confidence long-term. If something goes bad, it may be hard or expensive to fix. The manual machines are much simpler, more metal parts, and ultimately you get more control and potentially better results.

Can't beat the convenience of a superauto though. I can see why people would want it but I have no regrets spending 1.5x on the Breville.

Note, this won't work well for oily beans. Since it's all auto, the grinder can get clogged up. It's not too bad to clean for general maintenance but can be annoying if you have to take parts apart.

I had occasional small leaks and they were remedied by cleaning. It was usually coffee grounds preventing the piece from coming down completely and sealing the "portafilter". It required regular cleaning, more than my non-superauto.

Wow very nice price for this machine! I have had this for about 2 years and it has never let me down. Rock solid and super convenient. I highly recommend this if your considering an entry level super automatic.

This is very good entry level machine. I had it for three years before i accidentally blew the onboard card when I switched a gas generator to the house. My water pump broke but i was able to buy a part and replace it. I think I paid about $350 6 years ago. One of my top likes about is you can remove the unit(??) and clean it under the faucet. I have more expensive machine now and I miss being able to remove the ground packing (??) unit and wash it. During summer time, if you dont clean often you will see mold growing in your empty ground bin. Anyway, I recommend this.
