With this scope you'll get a closer look at the moon and that's about it, especially if you live in a city. If you get it priority 1 will be replacing the tripod.
Take the money from this and put it towards a set of 10x50 binoculars. Or look on ebay for a Meade Adventure Scope 80 / Orion ct80. These scopes are enough to make out some deep space objects and get a look at planets. The planets will be small but you can make out some detail with the right eyepiece.
