It's also 1 coupon per order. I literally placed 8 orders for 1 switch each to take advantage of the coupon for each switch.

If you ALWAYS have it at 100% then sure. But if you accidentally reduce it below 100%, it may cause your bulb in constant on/off or not enough voltage/current. Usually under voltage will not kill your bulb but it will make your bulb function incorrectly.

While this deal is technically dead, Amazon Warehouse still has them Used - Like New for $8.88. I have purchased quite a few items in Like New condition and they are usually still in the box. Even Used - Very Good tend to be in excellent and serviceable shape, depending on the item. And if you don't like what you get, you can always return it to their Warehouse. This is a very good price and they can also take the place of non-dimmable (HS-200) smart switches if you set the brightness to 100%. Just bought 2, even though I don't need them.

These in particular (dimmable) I use for ceiling fans, that are connected to a wall switch, and the "dimming" controls the fan speed. It's great to be able to adjust the fan speed without getting up.
Worth noting that this is entirely dependent on the type of fan motor, and it is generally not recommended to use a light dimmer to control a fan.

On further research, it looks like:
  • most fan speed controls are done via adjusting amperage
    • most dimmer switches adjust voltage
  • while you can get *some* fan speed control with a standard dimmer (voltage) switch
    • it only works "somewhat"
    • it can cause overheating at high speed (voltage)
    • it can cause humming at low speed
    • it's not advisable
  • the proper solution is to find a switch that's designed specifically for fan speed control and thus adjusts amperage
    • it looks like Kasa does not currently have such a switch
    • there seem to be some from treat life, lutron, leviton and others
    • and they also cost a good bit more ($40-$65)

I see a price of $19.99 and only a $2.00 coupon. How are people getting this for $8?

Bummer. Could've used one of these. I can't get over how even the 'normal' price of $20 is still cheaper than most 'dumb' dimmer switches. Why are dimmer switches so expensive?

I got 2 used Like new switches from Amazon Warehouse for $8.88 each for anyone who might have missed the deal and still needed these. Always had good experiences with Amazon Warehouse so don't expect these to have any issues.
