Whoa..excellent deal on solid quality bikes. One could buy one, sell the second and end up with a almost zero cost mt bike. L sizes are sold out. I called them and more on the way.

I've purchased a few bikes online over the past couple decades. They usually just need the handlebar, pedals and wheels to be attached. Something all of 20mins to do. Couple YouTube video are available if someone's unfamiliar with even just that. Really is no need to pay a bike shop to do it. Everyone who rides a bike should know how to at least do that anyway since it will help if they ever need to fix something on their bike while out on a trail.

Spoke to customer service, sale is good for a whole month. Said they will be getting more S/L's in 1-2 weeks.

Trek may be a bit more current in frame geometry but Marin seems to be pretty darn modern the last 5 or so years. Other than that, components are components. All these lower end aluminum frames are likely equal in quality. The only features I could think of that may be different is the bb or axle type, with these Marins having the questionably inferior qr 135mm.

General rule of thumb on bike frame sizing, your inseam should be greater than the "standover height" under the bike geometry. For road bikes, as long as your junk clears the top tube, you should be fine. On a mountain bike such as this, leave additional couple of inches of clearance. So your inseam should be a couple of inches longer than the "standover height". There's a lot more to proper bike fitting so YMMV. This is just a general rule of thumb.

Someone earlier mentioned Marin and Polygon are under the same company. I totally agree. The frame geometry is identical to my Polygon Cascade. They look identical in every way, cable guides and bottle mounts are all identical in the exact same locations. They are basically the same bikes with different paint and branding. All parts are identical too. I paid ~$440 shipped to my house couple of years ago at the beginning of the Pandemic, and have seen prices drop just below $400 for 1 bike. So this is pretty good deal.

All 3 Marins in this deal have the same frame/geometry, just a few different components such as drivetrain and brakes. I've already upgraded many components on my Polygon, but if I remember the stock components, it would have been equivalent to the Sky Trail.

If I were getting one of these Marins today, I would save the $150 and get the Sky Trail. That $150 can buy me 1x11 Shimano Deore plus hollow crankset and still have change left in my pocket.

This is for my daughter , she will be 11.

Not sure if Marin has suitable size here, help a fellow SDer would ya?

Also, how are some sizes sold out? Aren't you supposed to change the height size yourself anyway?

Bikes are not sized by age, they are sized by height. You'll need to find out your daughter's height, then go to the bike you're interested in buying and click the question mark by the "size range". It will tell you the recommended size to buy based on the height of the rider.

I used to love Marin's Steel series hardtail mountain bikes, so soft and smooth to ride...

Can you link me to the 1x11, crankset and cassette for less than $150? The 5100 derailleur is $50 and 11s cassette is $100 already.
