Primary appeal here is the 25 year shelf life because of course you can buy comparable dry goods (Rice-a-Roni, Quaker Oats, etc) for less.

On the one hand buying those mainstream alternatives and simply periodically replacing them with fresh stock largely negates the shelf life advantage.

On the other hand, this a turnkey, grab and go 72-hour meal solution to go into a household emergency kit for natural disasters.

The other thing is that people talk about buying the grocery store alternatives and religiously refreshing them every few years, but I sometimes wonder how many people actually do that, or keep it up over time. These types of dedicated emergency foods are set it and forget it, if you will.

A much stronger value proposition at $15 than the regular price of $28.

These aren't individually wrapped servings. It's 3 packets total with enough to make 26 servings total.

Oh thanks, canceled... Does anybody ever use these things... I mean by the time the poop hits the fan they're probably so buried somewhere you can't even remember where they are or be able to access in a timely manner... Thoughts, reactions?

Maybe get a bit more organized if you want to actually be disaster prepared? The one concern with these meals is that if something has gone so wrong that you need one of these, are you also able to get clean water supply?

Sorry, I don't consider this "emergency food" if it has to be cooked.

$14 will buy 14 cans of beans that will last 10 years if kept in a cool dry environment. No water or cooking necessary,

That's food for two for 7 days.

Have you ever tried carrying 14 cans of beans in your go-bag?
