got this set last year was 149 after free tool promotion this set came out to be $75

Got this set for $50 new from DTO during that crazy 50% off everything in the store "glitch". Then HD had it on sale for the same price through a B1G1 deal a week or two later. I haven't had the chance to use them.

This set was $149 for many straight weeks at HD. Seemed like a late summer/ early fall promotion when the kit was introduced by Ridgid, and then they jacked up the price to $199 when the free tool promo came about shortly afterward. They probably did it to offset the cost of the free tool on their end to make the "free" tool worth something by the cost being prorated if returned. The cheapest I have seen this kit is $75 doing the "hack" like you did.

Btw the drill in this kit is fantastic. I use it more than my other Ridgid drills for most DIY stuff and it's nice to use when on a ladder because of the smaller size and being much lighter than most Ridgid drills.

I got this kit during the $75 deal too (which was an absolute steal). They're both handy. Honestly I like them less than the full size versions, but I use them more. Not sure why, but I reach for them....so maybe the small size or low weight is nicer than I realize. They're definitely less powerful and have less features than the full size versions, but for most purposes they work great.
