A small quiet compressor like this coupled with a light flexible hose and pneumatic nailers with no trigger delay that are significantly smaller and lighter than their battery operated counterparts is a win in my book.

Except for a really quick job, I'd much rather deal with a compressor and hose than the size and weight and delay of battery operated guns.

Compressors are coming down, as people move to battery operated nail guns.

What size tank/cfm do you think is needed if a blow gun is the primary use? Want to replace compressed air cans for tasks like dusting off the workbenches, spraying brake cleaner/crud out of crevices for auto work, cleaning out tools, etc. Would also use for miscellaneous stuff like airing tires and tacking small wood projects.
I have the Makita 4.2 gallon compressor (this one is 2 gal) and it doesn't have much capacity to use as a blower for any sustained period of time without cycling. For my use it's perfectly fine for occasional use as a blower...say, a minute or two. Anything more than that is constant cycling. So with that said, 2 gallons isn't going to cut it for use as a blower. I think there are higher capacity hotdog style compressors that would be better suited for what you're describing.

Skip the compressor and just get this to replace air cans. I love mine.

granted it was from 2016...

this unit was aluminum 4.6 gallonsand about 44 lbs, also 60db

.
I got that compressor and it's still working great. 7 years later, I'm glad I ignored all these people who said "oil-less compressors are junk and don't last'.

CAT still sells them, but they're $313 now. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...X0DER&th=1

For 99 that was a steal! I got one too. I have a few of these small ones but honestly the CAT one is the best.

I picked one up today in Utica MI. Home Depot's website said it wasn't available at that location. Brickseek showed 2 in stock listed as "Clearance", when I showed up there were 2 on hand and it rang up as $149, thanks OP!

crown stapler I'm going to grab is this one:

FWIW - if you have a Menards in your area: Menards also has these on clearance for the same price and they are doing their annual bag sale where anything that fits in a brown grocery bag is 15% off, no rebates to mess with either. The 18 gauge brad nailer fits in the bag and I assume the ones there are about the same size or smaller.

Arrowstapler is also good if you are not looking to drive staples bigger than 9/16 inch. On the plus side the arrow staples are wider than what the metabo can shoot (3/8 vs 1/4).

Picked one up last week in Plymouth MI for 149. They still had 2 left.

It is soooo much quieter than my other oilless compressors. Absolutely love it so far.

What are you gonna do with 2cfm besides a nail gun and filling tires...not worth it imo

That's pretty much exactly what people buy a small quiet compressor like this for - and it's totally worth it.

Got the 2gal Makita air compressor this afternoon at HD for $149 along with the xag26z paddle switch angle grinder for $99 (regular $199). Decent deals so thanks to the op for posting.

Home Depot inventory showed 0 in stock and had them listed at full price $229, brickseek showed 1 in stock and said "clearance", when I called the store and went through the automated system to check a price it said $229 and out of stock. But in store I found the one that was left was in a different isle than all the other compressors and was sitting on the floor with a little display saying $199. It rang up $149 at checkout so all good.

Picked one up yesterday in Worcester, MA. They had 2 at the time, so one left. I have a Bostitch air compressor that's larger and a lot louder that I've been using to put hardwood flooring in.

Debated whether or not it was worth it for the Makita, but I think it is just for the noise (60db vs 78db).

Had bad luck with brickseek in the past but gave it a shot after seeing this post. Had same experience in Sacramento, CA. Hiding on top shelf but rang up as $149. Killer deal, thanks OP

Thanks for this. Took a quick 30 minute drive from Orange County to this location and snagged the last one for $150. Worker had to grab it from up top as well.
