I use a thing like this https://www.amazon.com/DozyAnt-Un...ljaz10cnVl and refill my bottles outside for savings.
It's not for everyone, the safety patrol will be here any minute to wring their hands about people doing this and being unsafe. Housecat type guys might want to just buy the propane bottles at Target and have a frappe.

As for the extension hose. I have one of those too. If you go that route, make sure you get a filter. I don't know if it is a pressure issue or a dirt issue, but my heater stops working on the just the hose. I have to disconnect and reconnect to get it to re-fire. When the filter is in place, I don't have those problems.
I think it might be a pressure issue, some of the cheaper hoses don't have a regulator
The fan can run off of batteries or power adapter. The ignitor doesn't run on batteries.
From what I read, the fan is supposed to help it burn more efficiently, not really push air.
I did get a stove top fan that runs off heat, but like others said, you are better off putting a regular fan behind it or something. I run a Ryobi fan behind it if I really want to circulate air.
I noticed that Cabelas has the Big Buddy "factory refurbished" for $80 if anyone is interested.
When I bought mine, it was recommended that you turn off the bottle valve and let the heater die before turning it off. If you kill the heater and then turn off the gas, there is pressure trapped in the hose/regulator and they will fail. Not sure if it's true but mine's still working. I don't use it much but it's a huge help when I need it.

I have several of the hoses and none of them have regulator... (Mr.Heater brand)
I believe the regulator is part of the heater or equipment you are using propane on.
And if using a bigger tank you will want the filter, something to do with oil in the tank and clogging the regulator
Five days is the new "quick" amazon shipping time. Plus, I have had two late deliveries this week alone.
I don't know what the heck has happened to Amazon Shipping, but there is no way that Prime is worth $179.
You're not lying. I've had to cancel a few orders in the past two months that were basically lost in transit. Amazon has been hit or miss lately. I rather not chance it with this item especially since no one knows how long it'll be on sale for.

If people don't already own fans, SD often posts battery fans that would be a great companion to a heater. Purchasing these versions with built-in fans isn't necessary and only a gimmick. The built-in fan doesn't move much air and are being phased out.
Again, hope to never have to use it, but it's good to have just in case. Plus, unopened propane is good for 20 years, so much better than the kerosene option I had considered. Who knows? In 20 years, I might just take up ice fishing or something.
