Not to knock the deal or the thread, but before you spend a lot of frustrated time taping off your walls or trim, try painting like a professional first. It is surprisingly ease to cut in trim and even along the ceiling without getting paint where you don't want it to. Even an average price brush. The key is not overloading the paintbrush, not rushing, and a little trial and error.
First time I painted a room I did the taping off and that was a mess. Getting the lines right, peeling the tape off without peeling paint etc. But just brushing without tape is so much nicer.

I do that for the wall to ceiling but man I just can't seem to get that perfect line. It ends up with a slight wave whereas the tape makes it so straight and clean. If the tape doesn't bleed...

I never use Painters Tape. I use Aluminum Foil from the dollar tree and some scotch tape or tumb tacks. For big projects.. like wall to ceiling you can use foil to cover crown molding and the overhang of the foil just tack to the ceiling... this lets you roller brush without thought and no... roller paint will get on ceiling.

See I could never get the tape to follow the line of the ceiling perfectly!I figured out from watching videos that the pros actually use the splayed brush bristles to get the paint up in the 'seam' where the ceiling meets the wall. This gives you a great clean straight line. So long as you do it the same all the way around it will look even. Doing this is how I learned what a terrible job they did spraying the ceiling back in the day with that awful popcorn texture.
