Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

If you're single and qualify for the tax credit, you should not be purchasing a car this expensive.
Idk if you make 145k a year you prob can afford a 40k car.

People with tax questions. Look at your 2021 1040 tax form. If line 24 is at least $7500 and your 2023 income is the same or above 2021 you'll maximize the $7500 ev credit. Simple as that.

look at the Line 11 for your adjusted gross income. if its less than 150k for filing single. then go look at line 24.

I still would like to see the math of how you're missing out on a $7,500 cash money check from the IRS/government.

Doe this mean that other manufacturers jacking up their EV's by 10s of thousands just in the name of full electric, will also bring the prices down to realistic levels and not rip off naive customers?

Did Tesla Pay Slickdeals for this ad?
Probably not but it is a pretty slick deal for those looking to get one for the past two years with the insane mark ups

Question, if we owe very little are there methods to make ourselves owe more (close to 7500) by the end of the year?

Its not based on how much you owe when you file taxes. Line 24 on 1040 is the total federal tax you are supposed to pay. Even if you owe nothing when filing (and paid it all via payroll deductions), as long as Line 24 is $7500 or above (so you make about ~ $75K (this $75K number varies based on your retirement deductions, etc) or more), then you will get the full rebate

I'm choosing between the two. What's you take charging infrastructure aside? Always feels like tesla is too primitive inside and the look is getting old...
The ID.4 is a comfortable commuter car, but don't expect the greatest tech and software updates like a Tesla; it's a great EV transition car I would say. Charging speed is not the best compared to other EVs, but acceptable. Also don't expect it to be fast like others are saying EVs are usually fast, but not the ID.4; it's quick enough. Range was rated at 260 miles, but my driving style would get me roughly 150-180 before charging at a comfortable SOC %.

Can't really go wrong with the price, at least in 2021 when the price was ~$42K for the base ID.4 Pro before tax incentive and local/state rebate.
