Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

People with tax questions. Look at your 2021 1040 tax form. If line 24 is at least $7500 and your 2023 income is the same or above 2021 you'll maximize the $7500 ev credit. Simple as that.
This is one of the best post on this growing thread where everyone is asking if they need to have a tax refund. You have to have a tax liability of at least $7500 to get the full $7500
I had the same confusion and found this article

I'm on my second Bolt and the car has served me very well.
With current $7500 rebate on Bolt, that's a no Brainer if someone wants to get an EV.
I got my bolt premiere with SC and s&s for out of door price After tax credit : 25712.. I need to upgrade my 2nd car so considering Tesla but not sure tax credit will be available for both even though i meet the tax liability and income requirements? Not sure if rule allows 2 new evs and credits on both?

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022, I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic
I'm in the same boat as you. Got it mid December 2022. We got screwed for purchasing first.

I thought I read last week that the $7,500 federal tax credit only applied to the 7-seat version of the Model 3 due to weight limits?

So does that now mean that the $7,500 tax credit applies to ALL Model Y EVs?
Not all model Y, for 5 seater only the long range model as price has to be less than 55k. Performance is more than 55k so that doesn't qualify

Couple of questions:

1) When will the radar be added back? Article I found mentions mid Jan.
Is this right would it be better to wait a few more weeks?

2) Should I add the Wall connected at ordering ? Looks like its asking me to pay for it in advance?
Can I get the Wall Connector for $350 at pick up or online somewhere?

3) In relation to #2 does any other brand make a better wall charger or is Tesla the best to get ?

4) The wall charger says professional installation. What if you already have 240V outlet in the garage? I had 2 installed when building my house as I figured I'd get EV at some point.

That's not how markets or economies work. The tone of your comment indicates that you just pick up random garbage on the internet and try to make yourself sound like a finance-savvy individual.
I do not know where you have been living and where you have been studying.
FED keep rising its rate. Housing prices has come down over 20% from the peak and some area got hit even more. Come back and give your your real hard facts. instead of spewing BS.

Would much rather have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a good company backing it than worrying about Elon's latest whim.

Any prediction on price say in June or July? I need a new vehicle by then to replace my 16 yr old Toyota. It still runs great but it has high milage and if/when it does break down, it will really mess up our daily schedule that we don't have time for. Thanks!
They will probably bring back rwd version with a lower price 40-43k, however you will lose tax credit at that time probably.

I thought under the new rules the credit was a direct dealer credit, which would apply immediately to the purchase price of the car and not appear as a tax credit that you need to claim back.
All Tesla vehicles are direct sale, there is no Tesla dealer

Exactly! - It was laughable when a Tesla salesperson in 2010 was trying to sell me a Tesla Model-S and comparing it with a Mercedes S-Class - What a bunch :-) Did anyone check the quality of plastic used on Model-S door panels? OMG! and does someone find plastic on a S-Class door panel at all ? :-) Again, I am talking about the 2010 era
I wouldn't consider one solely based upon the range, panel gaps and service.

Why are they encouraging the poor to buy expensive cars 😅
Yes, let them buy. Then they will realize they need a garage with fast charger. Too much expense and sell it back to the dealer where we can pick it up cheap without the tax credit.
