Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

In stock, at MSRP for that locals in that zip code. That took me 5 seconds.

I'm sure, unless you live in Alaska, you can find a dealer within 50 miles that's charging MSRP. Sure, you may need to wait, but they're out there.
you're trying too hard to troll..

nice fail link.. contact dealer for price aka $15k markup. GO TROLL elsewhere

yea there are dealers selling at msrp.. if you get on their waitlist and wait 2-3years.. i'm on a waitlist since june 2022....

you should take a look at current data and see what dealers are actually selling them for.. not msrp i can guarantee you that...

stop spewing your nonsense.. comparing data from 21-22 to current prices..

tesla 3 at 37k is a better deal than a msrp rav 4 prime xse even it was at msrp
Tesla 3 is a sedan. RAV4 Prime is a SUV. You're not even comparing the same vehicles.

As for your waitlist, since you didn't disclose where you live, perhaps that wait list is long because YOU live in a state that's not a priority for Toyota.

For example, my friend is a sales manager at a dealer in Chicago, and his waitlist IS 2+yrs.

So while not wrong, you can venture outside your little area, pay $5K and be happy, or wait.

Personally, my wife loves it.

To each their own though.

My used 3 is the most reliable carefree vehicle I've driven. When I got notice of a rear seatbelt fastener recall, Tesla mobile scheduled and did the work at my house. No other manufacturer offers mobile service until you get to Bentley. PLUS any travel is totally worry-free because the Supercharger network is reliable and just plug-in. The others are down so much you cannot drive away from home without anxiety. Travel will require your gas car. Check Rate Your Charge.
I'm not a Tesla lover or hater. Rear seat belt faster is not the going to prevent him from missing out of work. Just saying that wait times and parts shortages for issues relating to the drive ability of the vehicle can take weeks/months in some instances.

I do not have budget to buy new one however can lease. Anyone knows how the credit will work if leased instead of buying a new EV?
If you wait for 2024 you'll be able to assign the credit to a dealer. Presumably Tesla. This could affect things for a lease. Cars not made in the US qualify for the credit when a commercial lease is the transaction.

If you make around 120k you are not going to have to pay $7500 which means you are not eligible for tax credit unless you are paid via 1099.
With $120k salary annum; why can't one get the ev credit? $120k will easily have federal tax withholding of 7.5k +.

The credit does not offset self employment taxes. Only income taxes.

On a side note, anyone know how much it gonna cost for 220v home charger in northern cali?
Every situation is different. Really depends on distance to breaker and existing infrastructure. With that said it's anywhere between $200-$1500.

The one I posted clearly shows if you live in their area, you'll pay MSRP. 😂

Did you actually read the words?
