Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

I love the fools who say "you don't need parking assist for such a small car". Karma will take care of those people. Wait until they hit a curb parking at walgreens etc. Or they don't allow their wife to drive it maybe? Either way, enjoy having the most scratched up Tesla. Tesla eliminating park assist was for cost savings pure and simple
found the guy who sucks at parking lmao. you realize decent drivers had been parking problem free for decades right?

Are there any implications for delivery after March 31st? I.e. would the tax credit still be recieved?

Fyi… Please add charger if you ordering Model Y or 3. TESLA is not including mobile charger anymore with the car.
You don't want that. It's worthless and probably a reason (besides cutting cost/E-Waste) that they no longer include it. Get an EVSE like Juicebox, Tesla, etc. Your local utility may even subsidize it. The mobile charger will give you 5 miles per hour of charging. My E-Golf comes with it and I've used it a handful of times. I would never pay $180 or whatever Tesla charges.

I did use that money and some to buy accessories: all weather floor mats, storage and USB hub. Lol.

Most of the cards listed are for gas, grocery and travel. What is more confusing is that they say eligible purchase which makes me wonder if Tesla downpayment is eligible or not. I am sure people would have concluded before me so just looking for the suggestion.
most of the cards is saying the cash back benefits.. the promotion bonus is the spending requirement... chase sapphire has 60k point aka $600.. minus 95 fee.. net 505 after spending 4k... i believe tesla u can charge $3k to credit.. i know i did this with another auto dealer.. they told me that amount, not sure why. but hey i get 2% back so why not

Yeah it was a rhethorical question of sorts. Maybe a mini SUV but even those are going for $40K+

Only thing left to shop is used X or other used PHEV's

the 6 seater Y is around $51K w/ credits. I feel that $4k is worth it since it could come handy in a pinch with my 7 y.o kid+ 5 ft tall mom. and some resale value in the future.
new> used.. no brainer.. and warranty. new car smell. no maintenance to worry.. only an idiot would be paying 45k+ for ice hybrid use or new in this current market.

Why do people keep saying this? There is a difference between 'tax liability' and what you may 'owe' or get as a 'refund' as a result of filing your taxes. What non-refundable means is that you must have tax liability (simplest example is, you get a paycheck and pay federal income tax every pay period) of at least $7500. This means, if you're single with no kids, and super basic taxes, you need to make over $65K a year to have a tax liability of $7500, or in other words, have paid $7500 in federal payroll taxes. If you have met that criteria, you will get back $7500 that you already paid (your tax liability). If you earned under that, and only paid $5k in federal taxes, you will get $5K (only what you paid into the system). If you make very little and support a large family and have $0 tax liability (paid no taxes), you get $0 back. In complicated situations, where you're married, both high earners, save for retirement, itemize deductions, etc, you may need to make as much as $190k to have $7500 in tax liability.
People keep saying you can only get $7500 back if you owe $7500 in additional taxes after you prepare your taxes. This is incorrect. You simply have to have paid through payroll taxes $7500 or more in fed taxes. This is what non-refundable means - you can't get back more than you should have paid in.
what u paid early in taxes is different that what you actually owe to irs at the end of the year..

Its what u actually owe, not paid.. u can say owe $5000 but since u were an idiot, u decide to pay $10000 of your paycheck.. your tax refund will be 5k... and now u only get 5k tax credit since u didnt really owe uncle same 7500..

if this is too confusing.. talk to tax accountant

It's not useless at all. Most people use the mobile charger and a 14-50 outlet to charge. Perfect for overnight charging.

one should not be financing tesla atm due to high interested rate.. buy cash.. if u dont have cash.. dont buy the car.. whole point is to not spend extra on interest which will moot the entire point of a slick deal. 37k tesla 3 is a bargain

the other insurance should pay for 3-4 months worth of rentals... thats what insurance is for.. other company isn't paying.. get a lawyer.. they'll pay easily.
should or will? my friend told me the girl who hit him has low insurance so now he has to try to sue her... and if she's a poor unemployed student with no assets? *shrug* either way it's a hassle, but waiting for your car to be fixed for 3-4 months shouldn't be the 'norm' here.

Growing pains of buying into new things I suppose... in my case, I'm gonna try to stay on our current cars for as long as possible before buying something.

Have charged using only the mobile connector at 32 amps for 4 years. No need to waste money on a hardwired EVSE when you can easily fully recharge the car overnight using the mobile connector. The difference between Tesla and other car company's mobile connector is that other company's build the unit with only the standard 120v plug, so the charging is level 1 at 3-4 miles per hour (around 1.4 kW). With Tesla you can swap the adapter to multiple other plug types, such as the 14-50 adapter that's now included, and charge at up to 240v/32 amps, 7.6 kW.

Thanks for clarification. I guess it comes with multiple adapters? I already have a Juicebox 40 for home charging so I guess it's not needed anyway. Appreciate it and sorry for spreading false info.

Thanks for pointing that out. It appears that after 02/24/2022, they have made the criteria more restrictive.

https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/en...ligibility

Lots of people may become ineligible.
Look like only Tesla purchased before March 2022 is eligible. One requirement is has to be in the eligibility list and Tesla is not. Tesla needs to apply to be on the list.https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/en...la-model-y

Since it's a 7 seater. Wouldn't it be eligible for the federal tax credit for a SUV as it's price is less than 80k?
