Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

Does J1772 adapter include with Model Y delivery?
I am taking delivery this month and not sure I need to by one.
From what I read, Tesla no longer includes any mobile charger.

They must be copying all these smartphone companies shipping without a charger. Except, I have plenty of USB-C and wall chargers for my phones lying around, but not a single mobile or wall charger for a Tesla /facepalm lol

It was a check box on the order page and is something that can be independently ordered today from their site. Ultimately I feel this was done as a cost savings to Tesla, but they spun it to prevent e-waste since many folks are buying additional Teslas and may not necessarily need additional chargers.

math works out IF you can get 2.49%, but then you are paying too much downpayment. might as well pay 8,000 and finance the whole 50k. Even Marcus is paying 3.3% in savings so you should just borrow as much as you can.
Thanks I was thinking the same. Just not having a car payment in very long time has me hardwired to just pay cash or put as much down as possible.

The fully load dual motor awd lyriq is actually $65k. The 62k is only single motor rwd. When you compare the awd model y to the awd lyriq, the price is more than $10,000. You're also eligible for an EV credit up to $7500, which knocks down the price even more. It's a no brainer.
question is can u get a lyriq for msrp without waiting a year.

Why would you set foot in a dealer before you had everything ironed out?

I haven't gone to a dealer without having everything in place in years. Every dealer has an "internet department". Email them all, the ones who want to play ball respond. It is 2023 not 1983

As far as ADMs, if you are willing to order, like most are doing here for the Tesla, there isn't a car you can't get at MSRP, except maybe a Z06. Cast a wider net.
except most stealerships dont take internet orders without stepping into their stealership. not to mention those waitlist are in the thousands for msrp.. like rav4hybrid n what not.. enjoy waiting for rav4.. by time u get it 2025 will be here

have you actually compared the ride quality and comfort vs an Audi q4? the Y is not even close.

the q4 is silent and pleasant. the Y is loud in the cabin and road noise on the 3 and y are horrible.

the need air suspension on those cars like the model s and x.
will compare https://www.audiusa.com/us/web/en...rview.html

less range and no 3rd row Frown

Have you driven 2022/3 Y It has comfort suspension now

My guess is that they're likely overwhelmed at the moment. Given the smaller size and the influx in requests, I would anticipate not hearing back for a week or so.

Assuming you already setup your required checking/savings account?
How long did that take ? I applied for both yesterday and heard nothing back, snail slow!

Did you end up apply for loan at both and waiting to hear back from both ? I think they have a 30 day lock right for delivery/purchase?

Is the Tesla site the best place to look for a used MY? Lowest price I see is $49.6K. Well above $30K.
