Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Why would you set foot in a dealer before you had everything ironed out?

I haven't gone to a dealer without having everything in place in years. Every dealer has an "internet department". Email them all, the ones who want to play ball respond. It is 2023 not 1983

As far as ADMs, if you are willing to order, like most are doing here for the Tesla, there isn't a car you can't get at MSRP, except maybe a Z06. Cast a wider net.

Even with the financials dialed in with the "internet department" ahead of time, I've sat for hours in dealerships before they hand over the keys. First you meet with the sales person, who has to talk to 25 other people between sitting down with you. When you think you're home free, they want you to sit through a timeshare presentation with an F&I dimwit, who invariably refuses to accept "no" as an answer the first few times. Maybe my experience is an outlier.

Assuming the color adds $1000, the standard range MY is $50990.

This is not the long-range Tesla Model Y. I think its older model with 265 miles range

The fully load dual motor awd lyriq is actually $65k. The 62k is only single motor rwd. When you compare the awd model y to the awd lyriq, the price is more than $10,000. You're also eligible for an EV credit up to $7500, which knocks down the price even more. It's a no brainer.
I agree with you! I was also researching the Lyriq and Blazer SS when looking at EV. Have you noticed not a single YouTube video showing handling performance or track 0-60 timings? All the videos show a walk around the car while its parked, bragging about all its advancements. I am thinking the real world performance and range will struggle. GM just has a way to blow it with anything EV related. Meanwhile Tesla has been making nothing by EV for 10+ years now.

Again, it's not comparable to civic. The only similarity between them is that both are cars.
Buddy, even despite people started posting honest reviews after picking up this junk you keep staying on track? Civic rating - 10/10. Tesla rating - 5/10.

Get back down to earth and realize that your status symbol which you will be paying for the next 10 years is just a piece of junk.

Is the Tesla site the best place to look for a used MY? Lowest price I see is $49.6K. Well above $30K.
Problem is most dealers bought the EV last year when market was high. Now the price cuts and these guys will have to loose money to get rid of the used models. I was looking at several Model 3 locally all in the mid 40K range and now you can get a new for this price after rebate. They are going to have to take a hit on the price and will not like it in the end.

It is standard range model (279 miles range, 135mph top speed, 5.0sec 0-60 mph) and not the long range. I think these models have the 4680 battery cells.

Question: Where (which line#) do we put this Federal Tax credit in income tax form 1040?

I normally go for the "standard deduction" and put the standard deduction amount in line #12.

My question is if this tax credit comes as a SEPARATE DECUTION APART from standard deduction? (I do not go for the itemized deductions as I always found that my standard deduction is better than the itemized deductions!)

Got it. Someone else commented they are selling used for under $30K, which I'd like to see. I imagine there are many people upside down now and can't sell, too. Really interested to see how this all plays out. Someone is gonna not be happy.

Well wife was inclined to go for this against my best efforts on convincing her of a minivan for the family. Let's hope it works out well. Hopefully one of the credit unions will provide a loan at those rates in time.

Assuming you already setup your required checking/savings account?
How long did that take ? I applied for both yesterday and heard nothing back, snail slow!

Did you end up apply for loan at both and waiting to hear back from both ? I think they have a 30 day lock right for delivery/purchase?
I have applied and shows are refferd for account and pending for loan at tower
I dont have accounts/loan response yet also with gfcu you cant apply for loan until you have account so we are in same boat

Change the narrative now huh!?

" The amount orders Tesla received is crazy now." Was this public information in December. Lol.

Your behind must have good public relations with Tesla. It sure receives and produces tons of information.
Lol I am in a Tesla model y Reddit I have seen many reporting placed order dates and VIN issuance etc. The crazy part is the amount people who are posting there. Nothing in it for me to prop up Tesla. Tesla is a good car but has its issues with production quality , rear lights fogging etc.
