Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

All these claims are speculative based on partial information available from some tweets and portals.
No firm dates tied to specific parts built in the car.
It's hit or miss right now and for matrix light and comfort suspensions for MYLR.
Wish everyone who did not get the delivery yet will get the new parts.
Anyway to find out upgraded suspension and matrix led based on VIN? . I won't qualify for tax credit. Thinking to postpone the delivery

I don't think there is a way other than Tesla rep can get you that exact info.
Few folks tried that per recent comments and found out sales adviser from Tesla giving out incorrect info.
Only way to confirm is when you are physically checked the car for delivery and reject/accept.
(Reject from here means you won't have 20" wheels in MYLR 5 seat config to qualify for $7500 tax credit)
Others chime in if there are any other ways to get that info...

What is the reason for Tesla's Mar 2023 advertisement at the launch page alluding to an expiry/devaluation of the credits ? Sorry if that's already been asked and answered.

asked/answered roughly 9753 times already.

Treasury is issuing new guidance (allegedly in the March/April timeframe) that may (or may not) change which vehicles are eligible compared to today.

This change would not be negatively retroactive, so if it says eligible today you're eligible as long as you take delivery before the new rules come out.

Tesla still has plenty of gross profit margin without substantial competition. I will wait till Dec or early next year when the competition heats up, and Tesla is also forced to improve build quality, and lower profit margins.
They won't lower profit margin anymore. An article mentioned Tesla made 15k profit last year per car. After reduction it made 2k in profits. They are slowly increasing prices for chargers and car now.

According to IRS website:

" A vehicle's eligibility for the new clean vehicle credit is generally based on the criteria that apply as of the date a vehicle is placed in service, meaning the date the taxpayer takes delivery of the vehicle. "

do you think, the folks who ordered 5 seater MY LR AWD configuration with an MSRP under $55K at the time of ordering and have not received the car yet, will be eligible for $7500 tax credit since the MSRP for that configuration at the time of delivery will be above the IRS threshold of $55K?
I ordered 4 days ago and have yet to receive any more information other than Jan-Mar. We're all taking a gamble. Maybe we'll get the full 7500 or rumors of half or maybe none. It'll be up to you if you decide to take the delivery or just give up your $250 ordering fee.

We'll know more by March. Maybe clarification won't come until Months later and we'll all get the 7500. It's hard to know. But Tesla has a lot of motivation in thousands of orders to push that decision off or make it go in our favor. You vote with your $ and I hope they know that many of us may abandon our orders if the tax credit goes away because they build their batteries in China. This is my plan. The market will be swarmed with EVs. I can wait and purchase a different brand.

You can chose either year to use your AGI. The rebate won't come until you file in 2024. But you do have the option to elect to have your employer withhold less with the anticipation of the rebate essentially giving you pieces of the rebate immediately.

I got my VIN this morning for M3P. Looks like delivery date updated to Feb 10-17th also.
They are asking for proof of insurance to be uploaded. Looks based on decoders mine is coming from Fremont Factory and I am in NC

11 Location of Manufacture F = Fremont, CA, USA

CU are dragging their feet. Anyone have luck refinancing with them at the similar lower rates? Might go direct with Tesla and then attempt refi.
All Model 3 Performance cars for the US come out of Fremont.
I got mine ~3 weeks ago. The best rate I could find was 5.34% via Tesla, ultimately through Wells Fargo.

All Y suspensions are new.

Matrix headlights are hit or miss. I'm not aware of any recent Austin-builds with Matrix.

You/they can't tell by the VIN.

You may wanna talk to your doctor about that. Many people can drive 4 hours and more without a pee break. You probably get up in the middle of the night for a break or two?

can't wait to see the flood of whiny sder about the $500 increase when they had no intention of buying it in the first place.
yeah, I'm betting the line of people wanting to just throw $250 away for kicks is kinda short.
I wouldn't worry too much about that. LMAO
