Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I was in the same situation... got the VIN same day that I ordered and my pickup option were given for next 2 days... I called Tesla and was on hold for hours before I was able to talk to a rep... he said they don't like to push the date back but given my situation that I ordered just a day ago, he was able to push it back 3 days after the original scheduled date. So, within that week, I got my credit union to get me a check and sold my car at Carmax and was ready to take delivery.

If you aren't able to do all this, my suggestion will be to get financed through Tesla and then refi (that's only if u can find a better rate for "used" car)... as for trade, Tesla gave me trade in value within a day but I heard they're slow these day... maybe try to sell it at Carmax or other place... u can always decline to take delivery, in which case the rep told me ur car will be given to someone else and u'll be assigned another one (dunno when though)... this might be the risk u may not want to take given of the tax credit and amount of orders and delivery date we've seen on this thread.
Tesla actually called me after I texted back to ask for delay delivery.

They were able to compensate and allowed me to take delivery on 2/11 even though it's a longer hold time than usual.

As for trade in; during the call I asked them the status and within 10 min, I was sent an offer, which seems quite reasonable to me. $30K from Tesla, $27K from Carvana, or $22K from Vroom for my 2021 VW ID.4 Pro with 29K miles.

There are actually several improvements from a '20 to a '22/'23. Some are functional, some are cosmetic. For example:
  • 75kWh battery to 82kWh (improved range and 0-60 time)
  • Intel Atom (MCU2) to AMD Ryzen (MCU3) - much faster/responsive main screen, now includes Zoom app
  • resistive heating system vs. heat pump
  • standard headlights vs. new Matrix-style
  • new tail lights/rear turn signals
  • new cameras ('23 only, TBD on functional improvements)
  • powered trunk
  • new/improved interior center console with USB-C, USB-C for rear passengers
  • wireless charging for front passengers
  • new front door trim with wood, better plastics and lighted door pocket
  • double-paned front door glass for less road noise
  • heated steering wheel
  • new wheels
  • exterior chrome trim vs. satin black (I much prefer the black)
  • Improved front fender cameras, no more camera-sensor-blinded-by-flashing-indicator-at-night
  • CCS charging compatible
  • Overall less squeaks and rattles. I dunno what 'under the hood' changes they made in the past three years, but the car feels better put together.

I've probably forgotten some...

Yep, edit:
  • heated windshield wipers and improved squirters
  • improved material (metal?) for the steering wheel multifunction scroll wheels
You missed a couple of important ones:

Comfort suspension.
Dual-pane front windows for noise insulation.

If you still didnt got... you go to a nearest car dealer and ask them for cash offer on vehicle ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
They will also provide you carfax .. let them know you need time to think and will get back in few days..

Front window improvement was #11 on the list in my post you quoted Smilie

I didn't add comfort suspension, because that's only for the Model Y. My list was for Model 3, only. Model Y has always come with many of the features that the 3 got in the past few years.

Ordered a Model 3 RWD in blue on 1/24 evening (transaction date 1/25...); vin assigned on 1/28; estimated delivery 1/29-2/5.

How accurate is the delivery dates? I haven't seen my trade in offer yet; haven't applied for financing either.
DAMN!! Lucky you. I guess they can push out rear wheel drive quicker? You're probably close on the estimate.

My friend in Texas had a delivery date of February 8th, now it has been pushed back to the middle of March. Delivery dates are certainly fluid.

He has to drive 150 miles to pick up the vehicle.
What did your friend order? Y, 3, RR, AWD, LR, white?

No you will still be getting vin and delivery assigned without financing details or any steps.. you can do that 3 days before pick up too..
Some luck or pickup a car in inventory or first come first serve process makes delivery faster๐Ÿ˜ƒ

umm...ok...that was a rhetorical question about paying back tesla. the "deal" was done when you signed the paper. everyone gets it that it sucks to lose 13k but that is the reality. what about those who were about to sell/trade their used teslas that all of a sudden its now worth much less. did they not lose money same as you did? why shouldn't they be entitled to the same compensation? where do you draw the line? at least those that traded/sold their used cars last year made a killing that in some cases will more than make up for the price drop. heck i wish my current car is worth what it was few months ago but again that is the reality.
Again, there are many of us who bought recently where we asked if Tesla can offer some goodwill which is very different from saying we are entitled to the differences.

For those who were about to sell/trade their used Tesla that all of the sudden it's now worth much less, it's up to them to try see what they want to do. At the end of the day, it's not me who draw the line, it's up to Tesla if they want to do nothing or do something to show good will.

I had a model y 7 seater blue, white interior on order since late summer last year, hoping to bank on the high trade in value of my model 3 2018. After placing it on hold after skipping delivery after getting VIN (d/t low TIV) , I finally got another VIN in mid January for pickup yesterday. I went ahead with the delivery considering the dropped prices and potential tax rebate.

I love it. No panel gap issues, got the matrix headlights too. Only issue was the dual motor emblem being crooked which the fixed before I left yesterday.

I will miss my free premium connectivity, FSD, and no USS from my previous car for sure, but the upgrades this car provides in comparison to my previous car outweighs them for sure.

This car is much quieter while driving, no rattling at all, and a much smoother driving experience.

Got some Tuxmats on order for delivery for Monday, after reading forums that those mats are the ones to get.
