Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hmm. I am not talking about minor paint scratches, but one place didn't have base paint, and another place where the sheet metal had welding mark. Both places are smaller than coin size, but still disappointing this happened because it was so obvious
Oh wow that is seriously noticeable. I haven't noticed anything huge like that yet. Where was your made?

Thanks! I also saw one in stock Model Y long range AWD for $52,990. But the range list 258 something like that. I hesitate a bit, and it was gone in a couple minute. Do you know why this one is 258 mi range? Thanks!
That's the standard range with the new battery. It's an odd duck

I thought I clearly saw long range. It could be a typo. But we don't want a car with low range like this. Right?

You saw a "standard range" AWD Model Y, built in Austin, with the 4680 battery cells. It has 269mi of range.

You can't custom order this variation, it goes straight to 'available inventory' and doesn't last very long. It's basically the 'newest of the new' when it comes to Teslas. It has a new front and rear single cast frame. The 4680 batteries are new, but can't yet deliver the power and range found in the 2170s which are in the regular Model Ys.

I just realized that the EPA estimate is different between custom order and in stock Model Y.

For Model Y long range: custom order is 330 mi range. But in stock one only list 318 mi.

Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!
318mi is for 20in wheels. 331mi is for the standard 19in wheels. In stock cars mostly have 20in wheels.

Get a divorce and have one who qualifies buy the car.
Divorce would not have helped as each of us made over the top limit. Would be more fair if tax credit was available to everyone. We would have gotten two Teslas.

You've mistakenly wandered into the wrong thread. The Maybach deal expired at the end of 2022.

You could afford 2 as it is. 15k savings is at most 2.5% of your combined income. Get a divorce and quit your job this year to qualify. Next you'll say you already made too much to qualify in January.

Just an update for those who applied with Tower FCU. They are processing apps using first in first out (FIFO). From what I know they're working on those that applied around 1/18-1/19 at the moment. Once the eCommerce team starts working on your membership application it takes them a day or two to process the information. It helps to have already uploaded your identification (driver's license front and back) to the online portal. It does not help to call them until they reach out to you, it only ties up their customer support agents even more. Once they have reviewed and approved your membership, you will be contacted via the portal messaging to sign your membership document via DocuSign (or snail mail) and complete payment. Once these steps are complete it will be another business day to receive your membership information.

Separately, if you applied for a loan application at the same time as your membership, it will likely be approved much sooner. Once it is approved it sits in an "approved pending" state until your membership is completed. Once your membership is complete and account opened, it is recommended at this time to call in to the loan dept and let them know so they can proceed with disbursement of your funding/check.

Hope this helps both the people on this thread and Tower.
besides DL and membership, what other documents do they ask for ?

outdated article.. tesla dont cost arm and leg... nice try though
https://www.autoblog.com/2023/01/...aged-cars/

2 day old article, not outdated. The upfront cost of the Tesla is not the main issue, it is the cost of repair. Parts limitations and production methods cause the Tesla models to cost more to repair when damaged compared to legacy OEMs.

This is not a new issue; Tesla even created their own insurance agency to help bring down high insurance rates because the cars are expensive to insure.

If you both have incomes of over $150k then you should have a house and a mortgage interest payment, you can then file joint but separately and then structure it so you can get one of your AGI under $150k.

the $150k limit sucks for younger people in tech who WFH and rent (me) because my take home pay is less than $60k per year after taxes and rent.

Mortgage interest does not reduce AGI. You are confusing itemized deductions and AGI.

There is little you can do to reduce AGI beyond contributing more to retirement (which you should easily be maxing out at that income level) or making less money.

eh

whoops youre right, had a brain fart

but that person should have a house which means they should be enabled to joint filing separately and maximize 401k contributions which for 2023 is $22,500.
