Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hi I saw someone mentioned steps to apply TFCU loan application but couldn't find one now.

I have paid $35 donation and went straight to Apply loan. I got email saying my application is under review. Loan application seemed does not have any mention or links to donations.

When do I apply for membership?
Before applying for the loan if preferred. They are behind in processing membership apps, so your loan will be ready before membership is.

So much wrong

A comparable Gas/hybrid car is not 15-30k cheaper, especially hybrid

You also do not need to get solar for your EV
If you are too lazy to stick your head out of your EV bubble search it!, I am not going to do it for you. There are plenty of good hybrid options.

I didn't say Solar is needed for EV, it was directed at the argument who was talking about how Wall was magically reduced your operational cost..

Maybe because it is not $52,990 anymore, it's $54,990. So, technically, deal is dead.

Then somebody needs to create a new thread to talk about basically the same deal ?

Especially don't need solar with Texas utility rates. It's kind of shocking how long he's been spreading FUD in this thread and learned absolutely nothing.

It actually comes to 42 cents not 45 I quoted earlier. Still The gas costs look way better than charging costs.
I am in MA and you can change your supplier I am getting 17c per KW , it does not matter if you have EV or not but you will save -- Check constellation 3 years contract for 17c

It's nowhere near 12 to 15 percent for me in normal use. I use Tessie to track every single charge I make on my Model 3, and my losses range from 4 to 6 percent. The first attached image shows 96% efficiency charging from 9 percent to 90% (90% is my max usually set for the week).

The second attached image shows 96% efficiency going from 47% to 100% (when I was going on a long trip).
I imagine any electricity used during charging would add to the 'loss' they are talking about. It would be like walking 100 steps to the finish line on a sidewalk vs walking 100 steps to the finish line on a very slow (airport style) moving walkway. You walked 100 steps, but ended up 2 steps short of the destination, so you need to walk 2 more steps.

I suppose maybe the little led light on the charger (I use the mobile charger) or other electricity used by the actual charger would count toward that. Though barely. Let's over-estimate 1%.

And any 'phantom drain' such as sentry mode, keeping the temperature going, those type of things, would also count toward that. Let's say that phantom drain is 10 miles that you normally lose overnight. On a 300 mile range, that's 3 to 4%.

So maybe, worst case, between both types of 'losses' you use 5% more energy.

Post a link to where someone measured the electricity used off their meter vs what it shows inside a Tesla or similar. Its near impossible to find.
It's really not.

Why lie about something anyone can google?

https://www.caranddriver.com/feat...ng-losses/

That's the very first link when googling for "ev charging loss meter vs wall"

Not only is it not "near impossible to find" the story notes it's published by Tesla in EPA docs (though it IS a long doc)

Quote :
it took 87.868 kWh to add 77.702 kWh to the battery of the Long Range version. That's a 13 percent overage. For the Model Y Performance version, adding 81.052 kWh to the battery required 92.213 kWh, or 14 percent more.
There are of course TONS more links showing exactly the sort of testing done, for years, on a variety of EVs, that you claim nobody does and you can't find.

Quote from Brooklynite :
In my original post I said you cannot lock your Tesla without opening an app if you are 3 feet away and that is because Tesla does not give you a keyfab that everyone else does.
Except that claim is false.

The car auto locks as you walk away with your phone, no need to open an app, or even take the phone out of your pocket.

Quote from Brooklynite :

Unlocking a phone, opening an app, going through options to lock a car is NOT the same as convenience of a single button on a keyfab.

Nor is it something you actually have to do with a Tesla.

Is it that you are once again making false claims you know are false, or that you couldn't manage a 30 second google search to discover how something actually works before making up a false story about it?

Quote from Brooklynite :
How do you lock a Tesla if you are 20 feet away without using a smartphone?
You don't own a smart phone? Seems just as unlikely as all your other claims Smilie

(though I suppose if you're a luddite who doesn't even have a smart phone it MIGHT explain why you keep failing to know so much info that is found on page 1 of any google search!)

Funny you've now moved the goalposts to 20 feet since someone else already pointed out there's a keyfob that does it at 3 feet (or any reasonable BT range)

If you DO own a smartphone of course, as mentioned, you don't NEED to bother, because it'll auto lock as you walk away.

Again why keep lying about stuff anybody can look up in 30 seconds?
