Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

hi, how did you resolve this issue? thanks
We basically compromised.

Between the loan officer and the Tesla rep, they were okay with me signing the paperwork, and then the loan rep would submit for an overnight shipping, she then sent me copies of the tracking and check which I then forwarded to Tesla. Proof of it inbound lol

Can anyone chime in with how long the pre-approvals last for a TFCU or GCFCU auto loan? TIA
Pre-approval typically valid for 30-60 days.

What do you mean it's dead?
TFCU loan rates skyrocketed overnight where it is way worse than even big banks. So unless you currently have a preapproval locked in rate, it is not worth applying to TFCU. Obviously this move by TFCU is to curb the massive inflow of membership and auto loan applications received without the last month or so.

Hopefully this information helps those who placed an order around when the initial price drop occurred to get some idea of the timeline.

Order Date: 1/14/23; 9:00 PM PST
Location: Los Angeles
Build: MYLR / Blue / Black / 19
Estimated Delivery Date #1: February 4 - March 4
Estimated Delivery Date #2: February 14 - March 21 (updated 1/24)
Estimated Delivery Date #3: February 8 - February 22 (updated 1/30)
Estimated Delivery Date #4: February 15 - February 24 (updated 2/4)

I got my VIN assigned today (PA066*). Would have preferred a Fremont build for the matrix LED lights but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Will keep you guys posted on the delivery and such.
Update. But I'm not sure how useful this information will be at this point. I hope it helps those in SoCal. Finally got the option to schedule my at-home delivery. Only 2/17, 2/18, and 2/19 were available and I chose 2/19.

Order Date: 1/14/23; 9:00 PM PST
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Build: MYLR / Blue / Black / 19
EDD #1: February 4 - March 4
EDD #2: February 14 - March 21 (updated on 1/24)
EDD #3: February 8 - February 22 (updated 1/30)
EDD #4: February 15 - February 24 (updated 2/4)
Scheduled Delivery: February 19 (updated 2/10)

Will let you guys know how delivery goes as well as the integrity of the vehicle's build. Smilie

What do you mean skyrocketed? I got my approval today at 2.9 same rate as someone I know who got 1 week back. What's lowest anyone you know got in last 3 weeks here?

How accurate are they trade in values that tesla gives you on their website? I got a value of 23k to 25k for my 2016 lexus nx. Should be be expecting something within that range or something totally off?

He's talking about the current rates listed on Tower FCU. It's worst than going through Tesla's financing (which uses a third party bank).

Carvana quoted at 22k, Carmax quoted at 25k.
Telsa gave me 20k and I took it for the convenience.

Paid the remaining using a certified check. Registration was lower cost due to transferring plates as well.

Carmax is virtually hassle free, it took less than 2 hours for me to sell my previous car n they honored the price that was given to me online

Crazy to just throw away 5k like that

I agree and you are absolutely right.
My worries was the "mint condition" would not be honored by Carmax as my car was definitely not mint. Tesla didn't say a word about the condition and just took the car, I couldn't guarantee Carmax would do the same. Another dumbass reason is I didn't want new plates. It's not 5k loss as the trade-in value lowers taxes, Registration and fees went from 5k to 3k.

Had my Tower financing finalized and they overnight a check to Tesla earlier this week.
Today I got a letter US mail from Tower detailing the loan terms and asking me to fill out a POA notarized and mail it back. I already did this and uploaded it during the loan application I think I am just going to mail the one I had originally notarized, the only difference is this one has a different account number and date. The original had no account number so I wrote in the new account number on the one already notarized and planning to mail it back. Anyone else have the same thing happen? How many POA these guys need laugh out loud

You can transfer from savings. You basically navigate your online bank's system via Plaid.
Source: that's how I paid for mine.
Oh, thanks for the the info. I thought the plaid thing is like bank transfer and it will take a few days so I was planning to use cashier's check and will hand it over after I inspect the car. So with Plaid I can link it or something with my bank information and pay at the spot?

In our state you can keep the plates when your sell or trade in your car you just need to keep insurance on the plate/car until its turned in or transferred.
I did this just last week, sold my old car and I texted Tesla that I wanted to transfer plates to M3P. My registration fee went from $250.00 to 77.50. Highway use tax stayed same at $1,698.90
