Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

Thanks for your reply. Its Austin build.. i saw a P before A and thought its Palo Alto.. but later on figured out its A.. and Austin..
So is PPF and mudflaps coming for Austin and Dallas delivery?
It's region specific as to where the vehicle is being delivered. To my knowledge, they don't install them at either factories. They install them at the service center either before or after delivery. WA, OR, MN are some of the states where these items are available to customers for free.

You need to provide the Final Purchase Order agreement (includes sales tax, registration and licensing fees) from your Tesla account which you can find when you log in on the desktop platform which they will provide you when a VIN is assigned to your reservation. Has your reservation been assigned a VIN yet? If you haven't been assigned a VIN then the Initial purchase order agreement only includes the MSRP, destination fee and the $250 order fee which is insufficient for the auto loan.
Where do you see the Final Purchase Order agreement? I got VIN and I did say my own loan but I'm not able to Final purchase doc but it still shows Order agreement with destination fee minus Order fee.

I logged into my account at Tesla.com (not the app) and you will find all documents that you can actually download including MVPA. Forward MVPA to you bank for loan funding . That's what I did. Hope it helps!

This question doesn't make sense. There are Fremont and Austin builds, no Palo Alto. Fremont builds have Matrix headlights and cargo cover, Austin typically don't.

Mudflaps and PPF are region specific and may come already installed or you may have to request after delivery. PSA: don't do the mobile install of the PPF as they do a crappy job.
I thought the Austin builds came with cargo cover but not Matrix headlights. Not sure about the mudflaps

What have folks experience been with GCFCU lately as far as timing? Two weeks tomorrow since applying and🦗since. My estimated Tesla delivery is end of March so I have time but still a little worried timing won't be on my side

They are really backed up so you have to be patient with them especially with Tower after they raised rates on 2/9. You still have plenty of time. I am assuming you are talking about just the GCFCU membership?

For all of you MY owners (new and old) out there that may want to load MP3 from your music library, here are the steps to do it while keeping a folder for your dashcam and clips.

In my case, I bought M.2 1TB and external case - links below.
  1. Connect the drive to your computer
  2. Look up and open Disk Management
  3. Right click on the drive and click "Delete Volume"
  4. Right click on the drive again and click "New Simple Volume"
  5. Click Next, then choose the volume size in MB. I chose 500,000 (a little more than half of the drive)
  6. Click Next on the Assign Drive Letter Path
  7. Make sure to format file system "exFAT" and name the Volume "TESLADRIVE". Then click NEXT
  8. Click "Finish"
  9. Repeat Step #4-7 for the other partition and name it "MUSIC"
  10. Go into the TESLADRIVE partition and create a folder "TeslaCam". Failure to set this folder will give you an error in your MY
  11. Start dumping your songs/music into the MUSIC partition
  12. Test the drive in your MYR, when choosing any of the music, there should be an icon "USB" that shows up as part of the available Media. Click on that and you'll see all of your music.
  13. Enjoy your music library!

What I put in my car: super easy and all you need is a small screwdriver.
Thanks for the info. One note though I'm pretty hesitate using NVME, comparing with SSD, NVME run super hot already at home (just feel it or running S.M.A.R.T, let alone in the car under the sun.
Also, the music can also be in lossless FLAC format.

The one I picked above was specifically because it ran cooler. The case also includes some 2 heat pads. When I was transferring the music, it got warm but not hot... that's my personal experience so take it for what's that worth.

I am hearing so much about "Plaid". Can you tell me what is Plaid and how it works?
When you get to the point where you have to pay and you select Make your final payment it will prompt you to add a payment method. This is where you will find plaid. The link was only live once I was to the point of the purchase process when they were ready for my final payment.

No, they don't install them. They give you the mount and the screws but it looks like a taped on/drilled license plate holder. I would look at Etsy for the cheaper kind. Amazon has the whole range from $15 to $100 for those no holes mount. Taptes and EVpartsonline have some as well.

No, the 7-seater do not come with cargo.

Looking into something like this myself.

Mostly want to leave it off - but every now and then if i have to go into the heart of NYC or street park can just clip it on for a day or such.
