Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

There is one MY LR available in Pennsylvania. I'm in Virginia. Can I still buy that and pick up from there? In the details it says- "This car can only be registered in ME, NH, NJ, PA, VT".

Does it mean I can't buy it there, bring it to Virginia and register it in my state?

Thanks.

I wouldn't chance it but what you are suppose to do is call up Tesla and tell them the VIN of the car that you see in Pennsylvania and have that tied to your Reservation Number but I am not sure if they will ship it down there. I would call and ask but you have to be quick since it will be quickly claimed by another person.

CVRP is not prorated. It is all or nothing. If you make $200,001 joint you don't qualify. However it depends on what tax year you are trying to do. If you haven't filed your 2022 taxes it will look at your 2021 tax year until April 15th. After April 15th it will look at the 2022 tax year returns regardless. So if your joint income does qualify in the 2021 tax year, I would apply for the CVRP now and delay filing your 2022 taxes until May since CA gets an extended filling period for taxes in 2022 due to the storms. The reason why it will look at your 2021 tax year is because part of the CVRP application process is to fill out an IRS form that you give the CVRP board permission to retrieve your latest filed tax returns for income verification which if you didn't file your 2022 taxes yet would be your 2021 tax year.

Not sure what you are saying here.
If you read the FAQ on the CVRP website (excerpt below), it says that they use the most recent federal tax return required to be filed by the IRS. The keyword is "required to be filed by the IRS." So I read that as they will still use 2021 tax return until April 18, 2023 (tax day).

I already filed 2022 taxes so I am hoping they still use 2021 tax return. I only qualify under 2021 tax return.

Has anyone done the CVRP rebate and gotten approved, even after they have already filed 2022 taxes that don't qualify?

https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/en/faqs:
"CVRP considers an applicant's most recent federal tax return to be the one most recently required to be filed by the IRS. CVRP switches to requesting a new tax filing year for applications submitted the day after the federal income tax filing due date. For example, CVRP began requesting tax transcripts for tax year 2021 after the tax filing deadline in April 2022.

If an applicant has filed their taxes for a tax year before CVRP switches to requesting it, the applicant may request that CVRP evaluate that tax year. For example, an applicant who had already filed their 2022 taxes in February of 2023 may request that CVRP evaluate their tax transcript for tax year 2022."

If you apply, you will notice it asks you 2021 tax, no choice for 2022 yet. So whether you have filed 2022 does not matter for now. It takes 20 business days to process, during this window, you may ask for 4506c to verify you tax transcript, which you can specify which year to pull from. Still before apr 15. So I would not wait, no benefit, worst case you do not qualify, and you are not cheating as you are using 2021. Do not overthinking.

Do I still qualify if there is a co-buyer on the purchase agreement and the co-buyer income does not meet the income limit? It should only be based on the income of the main buyer right?

The application only accept one name, and driver license. Pick the one qualify, be it first or 2nd. Certainly if the 1st one qualify, at least feel better.

Order date 1/18 MYLR White/Black. Delivery date moved to April 8 to May 13 from march 11 to 31.
Looks like higher priced orders are prioritized, too bad business practice.

You are asking about a co-signer on the title. Basically the person who is going to claim the EV credit needs to fall within the income limits. I have never co-signed anything before but I am not sure if there is a delineation of "main buyer" on a car title if there is more than 1 name. The law sees it as you both have 50/50% ownership of the vehicle so you cant say the first name on the title is the "main buyer".

We all need to start calling Tesla out so they cut the crap and fill orders FCFS. I had a VIN for 2 weeks and it disappeared with no explanation today. I just sent my Tesla rep a screenshot of my exact build in Lyndhurst, OH inventory for the 40th+ time since I placed my order to see why selling it as new available inventory was more important than filling my 1/17 order. If Tesla sending LR to existing inventory for immediate reserve and filling February orders first to make an extra $2k costs us early orders an extra $3,750 Tesla is shafting their January customers pretty bad and we shouldn't take it. We'll end up paying more than a February order if the tax credit drops even though we ordered first.

Honestly Tesla as company does not have proper software ERP to handle the order like FIFO first in first out since Elon Musk roots itself comes from his dad DNA who was working in Coal Mines as daily labor in South Arfica. Let compare with any reputed Car Companies like GM, Ford and even Kia. when I ordered Kia Telluride 2022 complete custom build from Kia Dealer at Richmond, first the dealer put order in system on August 2021. On October 2021 first week when order started to Build Dealer called and updated since they see each and every progress. The dealer told ETA will be around Dec first week of 2021. Later last week of November the dealer called and told since I have custom build with multiple options some items are out of stock due to supply chain issue and ETA is Jan 25th 2022. Just before 1 week of Jan 25th after VIN got issued, dealer setup pick up and delivery schedule. All the Elon Musk lovers in this thread no car manfacture survives without having proper ERP to track customer order:
Customer Satisfaction is key to succeed in Auto
Industry and Elon Musk does not understand and no idea how to run Tesla Auto Manfacture. I called Tesla dealer and asked the sales
manager who was very professional. she told me multiple order got messed up and they themselves do not know what the reason for
missing out. she said in Inventory we have multiple Model 3, Model S and Model X sitting at lot and if I an interested can come
pick it up and close the purchase by today. she told no inventory on Model Y. I used Apple
card to pay and covered by Goldman Sachs since they will issue the refund. The
people who got their order enjoy it and people who did not got the order no worries since
you are not in FOMO(fear of missing
out), look Powell Federal Reserve speech today to senate banking committee at Capital Hill: There will be massive short terms rates getting increased and lots of folks are behind their payment for Auto 90 days or late including Tesla, finally no one is missing the bus as Elon has to keep on decreasing the prices since he cannot keep Teslas at Parking lot as Bank have given loans to him to sell the Autos not just sitting at lots. He even does not have massive production scaling capacity and he just fakes it and hype
