Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I wish. Been trying to call the loan officer (Lisa) for more than 2 weeks.
Called the regular number and got through a few times but they either try to transfer me to someone (ends up with VM and no reply) or they say they'll send Lisa a message/email/whatever, but still I never got a call back.
This is very frustrating. Delivery date got pushed by a few days due to a dent, so I'm still hopeful, but not expecting much at this point
Next time you call Tower ask them to escalate it to a supervisor

I initially signed up for Tower FCU membership but because of the membership delay, I wasn't able to sign up for the vehicle loans before the rates skyrocketed. Instead it forced me to find another CU and I am glad I got GCFCU since now I get an even lower rate of 2.49% for 60 months with GCFCU vs. 2.99% for 60 months if I still stuck with Tower FCU.

In your case if you still have plenty of runway to complete your vehicle loan before the rate expires, I would just do Tesla financing upon delivery and then turnaround and tell Tower FCU to make your loan application into a refinance and get that squared away.

GCFCU is 2.99% for 60 months base. However due to the vehicle loan promotion, you get 0.25% off if you are doing a new vehicle loan off the bat and another 0.25% if you put 20% down on the vehicle OR you do full DD of your paycheck into GCFCU. When you have both things, the GCFCU rate is at the 2.49% floor. So yes technically the base with the promotion is 2.74% but it seems silly not to try to save another 0.25%.

I opted to do the 20% down on the vehicle for the extra 0.25% because I didnt want to commit my paychecks to GCFCU for the next 5 years.

Tesla is at 5.59% Also, My trade in car is already paid off and I'm wondering if this is worth the tax credit? My delivery is scheduled this Tuesday.
Also know that in general when trading in cars towards a new purchase for a vehicle always gets a crappy offer so maybe the sales tax offset will just only balance it out.

Is the price before or after the price increase?

If you don't cancel it then you will end up buying it from Tesla.

you could just offer it to someone else on here and see if there any takers.
If it is before the price increase you'll get some takers.
Currently there seems to be a ton of LR showing up, even though many people on here are complaining of delayed delivery, like someone else said here, it seems that the high price ones are being prioritized unfortuanately.

My delivery is scheduled for next week. I got an alert to accept the Tesla Vision update.
Should I be concerned for lack of USS if I'm not planning to use FSD?
Any idea if Tesla is planning to have a solution for USS?

I guess I'm thinking too much🤔as my delivery date is getting closer.

I am wondering about the details that Tesla provides regarding federal tax rebate on the 3 and Y models:

On January 1, 2023, the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 qualified certain electric vehicles (EVs) for a tax credit of up to $7,500.
Note: This credit is in effect for deliveries taken before an update to the federal guidance, which Treasury and the IRS intend to issue no later than March 31, 2023.

I am confused regarding the Note part in the message above. As per Tesla, this rebate may get reduced some time in March (this month) however when I look at the IRS site web page related to this rebate, they specifically say "Credits for New Clean Vehicles Purchased in 2023 or After" which makes me think that this rebate is going to remain for some time, perhaps in subsequent year(s) beyond 2023 as well. They even mention "...2023 to 2032". Here is the link: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...3-or-after

Now, why would Tesla put this March 2023 in their language? I am confused. I didn't see any mention of March 2023 decision on that IRS web page. Also it says "up to $7500" but there is no clarification of what that means both on Tesla and IRS site! Is this just a Tesla's sales gimmick to sell these two models like hot cakes as they are currently selling, perhaps due to the mention of this March end deadline? Am I missing something here? Can someone provide any other source of this March 2023 deadline for the current rebate to be truncated/removed by IRS? That will be great. Thanks.

Although the tax credit rules took effect on Jan. 1. The rules for battery minerals and components which will be difficult to meet won't take effect until the IRS issues guidance. The agency expects to issue that guidance by 31st March 2023. So many vehicles that currently qualify now will find it difficult to qualify once that guidance is issued.
You are correct in saying that the rebate will be there past Mar2023, it is just that once that guidance is issued many clean vehicles that currently qualify for the tax break may not anymore, at least, until manufacturers are able to satisfy the new rules.
My guess is that TESLA is running a marketing game off this to boost this quarters sales, but it could also be that TESLA knows that they won't be able to meet those new guidance for where battery minerals and components are sourced for a while too.

Given the surge in demand this created, it is very likely that all the manufacturers including TESLA are scrambling to adjust their battery sources to meet the expected guidance. But we all know that it is not easy or cheap to switch those components sources to USA. So hence those credits will probably not be attainable for a while, but they will remain as an incentive

Thanks for providing the correct perspective to this March deadline! That makes sense. Would you be able to share the IRS/Treasury site that specifies what you have mentioned in your post above. That will be quite helpful. Thanks.
