Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I got MYLR transferred from Ohio to Jacksonville after seeing Ohio had the order I put in showing available that havnt been delivered yet . So they assigned a VIN for me a week and half ago to be sent to JAX instead of Ohio.
2 days ago they scheduled me for delivery on March 21-22. The next day my VIN was deleted. Called the dealership and they said since I'm registering car in GA (I'm from ATL), I can't pick up in Jacksonville bc cross state.

They put me on a priority list and had me transferred to ATL dealership now. Shows a new EDD of March 18-25. But I don't think that will come true with no VIN assigned yet.

I have yet to hear from Tesla or who is my advisor now. Texting and call no response. I'm wondering why they cleared me to have car transferred to JAX, assigned a VIN assigned a ViN, then a pick up date with no problem. then 2 days later they cancelled. That's messed up.

Anybody else in this boat and what did you do?
I wouldn't trust any of these transfers especially when Tesla's website says that those OH cars can only be registered in IN, KY, MI, OH, WV like this one [tesla.com].

If you really want the car and the EV tax credit, you should just drive/fly there buy the car there and bring it back.

Looks like current inventory has SR, 2 MYLR5, majority are MYLR7 with a few MYP in between. 14 of MYLR7 are in FL.

Sorry this was probably asked before, but I just spoke to my Accountant for this year's taxes and mentioned my Tesla Y purchase for next year's tax purposes. (I bought a Tesla Y in February 2023)

He mentioned how I need to get a paper from Tesla verifying the purchase in order to claim the 7500 Federal rebate. Has anyone managed to get this from their Tesla dealer yet?
Those purchase agreement, configuration documents are on the tesla website after delivery, login to get them.

Use this website to check which plant fremont or austin punching the VIN: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/
You don't need to use the website to figure that out. It is the 11th digit in the VIN number whether it is an "A" for Austin or "F" for Fremont

I discovered something today. Tesla gives a higher estimate when youre in incognito mode and not signed in vs signed in.
My original offer was for 23k. I did an estimate through teslas website and they quoted 23-25k back at the beginning of Feb. I got an official offer for 23k once my order was placed.
My offer expired on 3/13 so I did estimate through their site today. This time I wasnt signed in. I was quoted 26-29k. It made sense since used car prices went up since Feb.
I signed in and redid the estimate, this time only 23-25k. I thought for sure it was a mistake. I redid the estimates twice using incognito mode and signed in. Incognito mode always gave 26-29k. Nice know Tesla low balls you once they have your deposit.
Im still waiting for the actual offer to come through the app. Hoping they dont F me even further.
Why trade car to Tesla. Carmax giving significantly more for used vehicles. Check it out online and get offer. Thank me later

Trade in value is not taxable that needs to be factored in for comparison.

That is correct. Which means you would need to get about $1500 more from non Tesla buyer. Tesla offered me 18.5 carmax 23.5. Well worth it. Your welcome

Tower fcu closed my loan application saying they did not received documents in 30 days. Anyone experience this with them. Were they able to open the loan application again at same 2.99 rate?

Tower FCU's preapproval was only good for 30 days. They should have told you that. If you did not pick up your Tesla before 30 days then you applied too early for the auto loan. Did you have your VIN number already assigned or were you just applying early for the loan hoping the preapproval would last 60 to 90 days? I have read that Tower is not extending the 2.99% rate anymore and that reapplying again will provide you the latest rates. Call Tower and talk to a rep to see what they say. I would assume it is dead and you will have to find another CU to finance with.

Any CU options for H1-B Visa holders other than DCU? I already have approval from DCU at 5.99% for 65 months and from a local CU at 6.49% for 78 months. I may cancel my delivery if I don't get a better rate. Doubt if the reduced price and tax credit would make any sense to buy a new Tesla at high interest rates?
try Southeast Financial Credit Union...they offer below current rates:
3.00% APR for 1 Year
3.25% APR for 2 Years
3.75% APR for 3 Years
4.00% APR for 4 Years
5.00% APR for 5 Years
5.50% APR for 6 Years
6.00% APR for 7 Years

td;dr: Might have to forfeit current VIN. Anyone have insight on VIN reassignment timeline? Will I be placed at the end of the queue (April-June delivery) or will I be reassigned the next VIN that matches my configuration?

Context: EDD was between 3/19-3/25. I got a text yesterday, 3/13, evening saying that the car is ready and prompting me to arrange pickup. Got another text this morning saying that if I don't schedule pickup by tomorrow the VIN is being reassigned. I'm away at the moment and can't make their 3-day window. Local store rep isn't willing to put a hold on it or even honor the EDD window I had planned around.

I'm pretty annoyed about the situation. Looks like I'm going to lose this VIN, potentially lose out on the tax credit, and potentially lose out on the low interest rate financing I had secured. They should at least respect the EDD...
I gave up my MYP because of build quality, lady told me I could do 1 hold so they released Vin and assigned me the next one which I got two days later.

But the email says rate is locked till 4/3/23. So I am not sure how the application closed earlier. I did even asked the question multiple times that i will not have docs in 30 days from 2/10/23 but never got any response back. Yes i applies for the loan earlier as they were taking very long to process the membership and loan application.

The pre-approval I received clearly said 30 days from approved date. There was no separate lock date.
In my case they closed my application end of February instead of 30days from pre-approval so was able to get them reopen the application and the loan.

Not anymore, we actually raised our rates today to over 5%. The 2.99% rate is locked in until expiration on 4/3/2023.
