Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

How long was your preapproval good for? 30 days or 60 days?

I believe it was 60 days? It got approved on 1/20.

That sucks because now the interest rates are higher than it was in January. You definitely applied for financing way too early (Order date on 1/19 and applied financing on 1/20). Until you started seeing VINs being assigned for orders from a few days before your order (ex: 1/15-1/16) should you have started applying for financing given the 60 day preapproval period.

Which bank or CU did your preapproval expire from?

The Tesla app, so it is Wells Fargo
Could they reapprove you for whatever rate they now have (I think 5.49%) and soon after you take delivery and that loan is in place, you could refinance that for a better rate from one of the FCUs. Start looking for good refinancing rates and try to submit a loan application for a 60 day rate lock before interest rates go up more. Good luck.

They can always reapprove you by reapplying for a loan but the problem is that you will get the current rate (5.59%...could be higher soon since Fed raised rates another 0.25% today) and not what was locked in from January which probably was 0.25% or 0.50% lower. Certainly, if OP was taking delivery soon and didn't have any 3rd party financing lined OP can just do Tesla financing and then find a bank/CU which can have lower financing.

Where are you located? I also ordered on 1/17 but got assigned 1st VIN on 2/18 (requested reservation hold since i did not have financing lined up yet) and 2nd VIN assigned on 3/4 and picked up the car on 3/10. Located in SoCal.

That is very strange that not even your first VIN has been assigned to you. I mean Washington state isn't that far away from California so it really should be no excuses to not deliver in Q1.

Google is your friend. Its all over the EV news.

Sadly this model is basically dead on arrival. I would wait unless you are itching to get one and cant wait

Also the new radar is much improved from old one. Should give less phantom breaking and a vastly superior autosteer on highways.
Auto steer is already solid on the highway... I mean if there's one place EAP shines, it's the highway. vastly, lol

There are so many cars showing in CA than anywhere else. Are people now cancelling? If so why?

If you're referring to hw4, it mainly affect fsd so it won't matter to most buyers

No point fear mongering

Wrong. Again, read what the engineers said. Much safer with radar. Not expecting you to do any research or critical thinking. That would be asking too much of you. Keep polishing that turd tho.
