Get $300 with a new checking account and another $200 with a new savings account with qualifying activities. Plus, get an extra $400 bonus when you open both accounts at the same time. TOTAL $900.

Checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers. Savings offer is not available to existing Chase savings customers. Both offers are not available to those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last 3 years. You can receive only one new checking and one new savings account opening related bonus every two years from the last coupon enrollment date and only one bonus per account. Coupon is good for one-time use.

To receive the checking bonus:
1) Open a new Chase Total Checking account, which is subject to approval;

AND 2) Have your direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of coupon enrollment. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such as Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit. Micro-deposits do not qualify as a direct deposit for the bonus. Micro-deposits are small deposits, typically less than $1, that are sent to your account to verify it is the correct account. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 15 days.

To receive the savings bonus:
1) Open a new Chase SavingsSM account, which is subject to approval;

2) Deposit a total of $15,000 or more in new money into the new savings account within 30 days of coupon enrollment;

AND 3) Maintain at least a $15,000 balance for 90 days from the coupon enrollment. The new money cannot be funds held by you at Chase or its affiliates. After you have completed all the above savings requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 15 days.

To receive the extra bonus:
You must open the checking and savings account at the same time and complete all requirements above for BOTH the checking bonus and savings bonus. After you have completed all requirements, we will deposit the remaining bonus due in your new account within 15 days.

To receive any of the above bonuses, the enrolled account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout. Bonuses are considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT (or Form 1042-S, if applicable).

23% return on investment, not bad at all.

$900 / $15,500 = 0.058

0.058 * 4 quarters = 23%
lol what? You're getting $900 for 90 days with $15,000. You need to redo your math.

Does anyone know if the 15k has to be deposited directly into the savings account to qualify for the bonus? Or can I deposit into checking and then transfer it to savings?
According to a phone rep it has to be directy into savings, without passing through checking.

Terrible funding process. Not hyperbole.

Credit to OP for this deal. It is a deal. But as others have indicated, funding the account through a chase-initiated transfer has been terrible. Spent 2.5 hours this morning (through breakfast, shower and gym workout) without resolution.

Micro deposits of external verified. When I tried the transfers (one at a time) both said "pending review" then within seconds were then rejected. One excuse after another with each rep who transferred me to the next rep and so on. Last rep said we need to initiate a 3 way call with my external account to verify my identify, ownership and verify available funds. Did that. Initiated transfer, rejected again. Rep had no answers about why. Suggested (as reported here) initiate transfer from external or so a wire ….

In summary, terrible opening experience. Chase bank has procedures, even when followed won't necessarily get the funds to the account as their website suggests.

The only thing equally important as getting this damn account open was to run to SD and report on this experience so others don't fall into the same mess. :-)

Damn that's annoying, the teller deposited my check into my checking account even when I asked for it to be deposited into my savings. :\

The only way to fund the account with $15000 within 30 days of opening is to deposit a paper check in a Chase branch or start a payroll deposit of $15000(that means you're making mega bucks) because:
1. It won't allow ACH from your other banks;
2. It won't let you Zelle into the savings account;
3. It won't let you mobile deposit more than $5000 in a 30-day period.

For those who don't have a Chase branch nearby and a checkbook, think twice before diving into this deal.

p.s. Not sure if wire works or not. I don't know what the consequences of a failed wire are.

Basically you need a paycheck of $15k in 30 days! lol

Here is the requirement
Direct deposit is an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Depositing a check in branch or through the Chase Mobile® app is not considered a direct deposit. Person to Person payments (such as Zelle®) are also not considered a direct deposit. Micro-deposits do not qualify as a direct deposit for the bonus. Micro-deposits are small deposits, typically less than $1, that are sent to your account to verify it is the correct account

Good thing a Chase branch just opened next door. Will try to deposit the paper check, my mobile check deposit limit is 7.5k. Does anyone know whether that's per transaction or per month?

So absurd of Chase. They just informed me that I cannot do any inbound transfer in Savings from External account for atleast 6 months. Only way to deposit it personally or through a check in branch. Seems like they are still living in 90's

From what I understood, it has to be monthly direct deposit of at least $500 into your checking account. Savings account has to be $15,000 within 30 days of opening the account.

Electronic deposits made into this account totaling $500 or more, such as payments from payroll providers or government benefit providers, by using (i) The ACH network, (ii) The Real Time Payment network, or (iii) third party services that facilitate payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network,

OR a balance at the beginning of each day of $1,500 or more in this account,

OR an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances

Does this mean its just needs to be 500 or more one time?

Crazy!

Good thing I did exactly that just in case, but their shitty business practices ain't earning me as a loyal customer. In fact, I left them over a decade ago, and I come back to find they are way worse. I miss Washington Mutual Bank.

Initiate the transfer from an external bank into your savings. That's what I did.

I had the same experience. Open account and linked account via micro deposits. Tried to do a transfer and got flagged as fraud. Had to verify myself then three way call to external bank for them to ask three questions. Do I have access/own account, is it older then 6 months and does it have enough money to do the transfer?
Agent asked why I wanted to transfer the money.......(because I am a crazy person for thinking bank accounts are where money would be....?)
they have some real smart people working over at Chase. Confused
Seems like the money is the price of us working out their new dumb rules.

This is false and they have no idea what they are talking about. The systems track new money as any money new to the bank, regardless if they pass through the Checking.

It just CANT be sitting in the checking for 3 months and then transfer to savings.
