There used to be ways to use a VPN to sign up for HBOMAX in a different country to get it for over half off… not sure if that still work or not. Might be worth a quick search though…
The Ad-based plan isn't 4k? WTF!? These streaming services are getting way more Price Gougy than cable! SMH...
The same is true for Netflix, Hulu, and any streaming provider that offers a choice of ads vs no ads. However, unlike Netflix HBO Max with ads offers a high 1080p resolution. Very few people have a setup that supports 4K and has a high enough screen/distance ratio for the 4K resolution to be important.
I'm on the Black Friday $1.99 deal. 1080p resolution looks excellent on my theater with a 120" screen, and the ads are not bad compared to other streaming providers. What is worse than other streaming providers is the lag in the menus prior to playing shows. However, this is tolerable. I am quite satisfied with the $1.99/month deal, but I do not plan to purchase this full year subscription deal. 3 months ls long enough to catch up on the vast majority of shows I enjoy. I don't need a full year. Furthermore $70/12 = $5.83 per month is a lot more than I am currently paying for the service.
You're right but if paying monthly = $120 which this would save $50. But yes it is only $30 off yearly $100 plan.
Those thumbing down I don't think this is a bad deal. Get over it just because you want the $150 yearly, no ad plan, for over 50% off.. Just move on, don't ruin it for others!
