I bought this for 160 about a year and a half ago. No complaints about the coffee taste, and the ability to make strong coffee makes me happy. The ability to put the water reservoir on either side makes me happy too. The only thing I don't like is it's tall, and then the K-Cup is in the back and you have to lift a lid up to get to it. My counters have cupboards over them that are low enough that I have to slide the maker out every time. Good price Op! TU and repped

Thanks for this info! What is the distance between the countertop and the bottom of your cabinets? I have a feeling that I'll have the same problem.

Thanks!!

Have you ever used a reusable pod for your own coffee?

I've burned through 4 of these. They have a high failure rate.

Wait for the $99 deal at Costco, where you get the bonus coffee and make-your-own ground reusable coffee pod. And return it WHEN it dies. Not IF.

Contrary to @jamieL2159, I'm not a fan of this at all, at least for the carafe operation.

We're staying at the second home of family while we renovate our house. They have this. Compared to our Cuisinart CHW-12P1, the Keurig makes a weak ass pot of coffee, even with the "strong" option turned on. Depending on the amount made, I find we are using 33-50% more grounds to achieve the same strength and flavor (I grind my own so that's not a factor). Perhaps the difference is the Cuisinart uses conical #4 filters, whereas the Keurig is flat bottom.

Can't speak to the K-cup side of things.

What typically fails on the machine?

No, I just make a pot and put the setting at 6 cups, that gives you two large cups of coffee.

Internal temperature sensor, especially during heavy use or going through a descaling (I don't do the latter as recommended because I use Zero Water with it). Requires major surgery to reset it. A very bad design.

That's a great point, the coffee is weaker then a traditional drip with the conical filter. I didn't mention that in my first post, but if I'd have thought about it I would have because you're exactly right. Cuisinart has come a long way, I had one of their first duo models and it was very poorly engineered. I've heard a lot of good things about them since then though. If I buy another K-Cup/standard model I will definitely be giving Cuisinart consideration.

edit: wanted to mention that several times I have had the filter edge fold over on itself during the brewing process, then the water goes around the coffee.

15 1/2" from counter top to cupboard bottom. The unit is 14" tall.

We've had this same model for a few years now, but I killed it a few days ago getting the electronics wet in the sink while doing some spring cleaning. For $100 I guess I'll have an extra pot for when the holidays roll around.

I looked the current model at Costco, but it looks like a travel mug wouldn't fit without just leaving the drip tray out all the time, and the water reservoir isn't on the side I prefer for the layout of our kitchen.

This is a steal at this price. I've had mine from Costco for at least two years. I love the dual use and would never get another coffee maker without a sealed carafe. I'm a coffee snob and this makes decently good coffee.
