Can anyone confirm that I'd have to change from my old Simple Choice plan? Saw that is a comment but didn't see anything asking me to change plans this far into the process.
Edit: The 5th time was a success on the IMEI check. I was able to advance in the process. Doesn't look like it's requiring me to change my plan from Simple Choice. Still on the fence about moving to this phone.

There's also a good case to be made for trading in phones like the iPhone 7 or Pixel 3 (which are still functional flagships, but have near zero residual value at this point). Assuming you're not still using those phones as daily drivers why not squeeze a little more value (though I think either models' cameras are likely head and shoulders above what you'll get out of this Moto - so if you're actually seeking a replacement stick to a more genuinely flagship device).
Unfortunately the case for the LG Velvet or even the Samsung A53 is a little tighter given how little you're getting for the monetary outlay.

Also, though this gets debated often in these types of deals, be aware that it is also possible to have more than one handset offer billed to a single line. As an example, I have two lines on my account which are receiving both a credit for a free Samsung A32 ( $11.75 of 2021 Samsung Trade P7 ) and a credit for a free LG Velvet ( $16.67 of 2021 Smartphone P1 ).

You can have more than 1 EIPs on a single line. so you don't need to have a line without one to get this deal.

Yes you'd be stuck with them for 2 years that's the catch, some people don't care about that.
