These brushed tools are like the gateway drug everyone gets then eventually one by one replaces with brushless. 😂

I have to agree. I can't imagine buying any brushed tools today unless they were going to be rarely used or abused.

These tools are just fine for 90% of the people who would use them. Especially for homeowners who need some decent quality tools at a decent price.

Can't beat this deal for basic homeowners. You can barely get a decent meal for the price of three tools. You will need a bigger battery though.

The charger included in this set is the slow one. It'll take like 10 hours to charge the 1.5ah battery. The saws will use it up quickly.
So definitely for light usage only.

Yup, I'm not a GC doing kitchen remodels. I'm a homeowner that needs a recip saw twice/year and a cordless drill/screwdriver 8 times/year. Number of times I needed more power or reliability from power tools:. Zero

Have had my 5 tool brushed set since 2019… paid $179 for Brad nailer, drilldriver, recip saw, circ saw, and crappy flashlight. Was well worth it imo! I haven't encountered a single time when I needed more power or lasting tool. Added an angle grinder since then and a rotary tool. All brushed… no issues

Beat you 😉. I've had this same 3 tool homeowner tool kit for at least 15 years. Never failed me.

virtually worthless without 2 batteries. start job and deplete battery, then have to wait for battery to recharge. dumb.

GCs used brushed tools for years before brushless. Any DIYer will never need brushless, this set is great casual use

I still have and occasionally use my brushed 6 piece set, just like this, a couple years ago. As a new home owner, they've lasted every home project thus far. I don't use these as my profession, which I guess I could see not being worth it, but regular home stuff is great, every tool operates fine.

The whole brushed vs brushless debate is pretty dumb imo. It's all relative. Some of my brushed Makita stuff still runs circles around my brushless Ryobi. Ask me if I care.

I buy tools based on their cost/performance and I don't bother with any marketing lingo.

The bottom line is this Ryobi set is perfect for occasional use or for keeping as a spare to much better tools since the price is right.
