Can this be used in a PS5? It seems to me that it should be usable there, but I wonder why they have another version that's PS5-licensed.
The only thing that would concern me is the thickness of the heat sink. Maybe someone who has this can chime in.

One of the best drives out there right now, particularly for PS5 use. Great deal.

I have this , with the heat sink , in my PS5 . Remember to check for a firmware update with your PC before installing.

It is PCIe Gen4 x4 and PS5 compatible for those not familiar with model and specs.

I could not get a 100% clear answer if this heatsink fits in a PS5.

I have a PNY drive and use this heatsink [amazon.com] and fits well.

Same price from Amazon if you can wait until Feb 6.and listed same price at Newegg, so question if this is hot deal or just where that drive is sitting these days.

I promise if you give it time (3-6month) this drive and many other will be going down in price. If you are impatient....then get it now but don't be sorry if you see it lower in 3-6 months. We are about to have hella lows on technology that was overpriced during the covid days. The manufacturers have surplus amounts of these things and will be wanting to get rid of them soon.

That's a lie. Don't need a firmware update with this one.

Waaaay overpriced now that there is a glut of DRAM and NAND memory combined with people and companies not buying PCs. 2TB SSDs will be $50-100 by the end of the year with the excessive amount of manufacturing capacity from Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. Current 2TB SSDs are $99.
Not remotely the same specs.

This. You are able to unpack this, install it right into your ps5 and it'll handle the rest. No need for a pc.

It should work in PS5 without heatsink
Sony recommends using a heatsink, and the one that comes with the SN850/SN850X works fine inside the PS5.
