Bought this exact drive with heatsink and installed in my PS5. It's easy, the hardest part is getting the PS5 cover off! No need to worry if it will fit or anything like that. Capital One card holders can get 11% cash back through capital one offers as well.

The statement is stupid because who waits a whole year to buy something they need just to save a few bucks? It boggles the mind. Also think about this: who buys something they have no plans to use now or is unsure because it is on sale? Everything gets cheaper over time. If I waited 5 years, I wouldn't have wasted $200 on a 128gb SSD that is only half the speed of the current sata SSDs.

Not Capital One Shopping, but Capital One Offers. If you log in to your credit card account and scroll to the bottom there's a section called offers. Search Western Digital and go to their site through the Capital One link.

Why is everyone only talking about this from a PS5 perspective? This is the fastest nvme for PC as well right now.

showing delivery around 2/15, but that's fine. I'm okay waiting a bit as I'm just trying to replace one with a bigger one.

i know this is getting downvoted but i think this person is right. its going to go down if you can wait.
It's going down but idk about THAT far down. My estimate is far more conservative at $130 by year end. The reason prices dropped so quick is manufacturers are clearing out their stock of 4.0 drives, preparing for 5.0 release. Sell it now for $180 or sell it later for $130.

edit, btw, this drive is top tier, just behind the SK Hynix P41 and the newly released Samsung 990 Pro (990 is overpriced as hell, though). I bought the SN850X for my new PC build, but the included heatsink was too bulky and I had to send it back. I have no clue about whether or not it fits in gaming consoles, as I don't have one.

I ended up getting the SK Hynix P41, and I'm amazed at how well it performs. As far as the P41 vs SN850X, the P41 IS a better drive, but the performance difference between the two is small. Go with whichever is cheaper.

There is a firmware update for this that resolves some poor performance issues with some configurations. I bought one last month, and the WD toolbox updated the firmware on it for me.

The folks comparing this drive to a $99 Q flash drive aren't well educated on nvme drives. The endurance and performance of this drive are far above those.

Perfect for a use requiring a heat sink like the ps5. I love the heatsink on this. It's heavy and has baffled holes in it for airflow. Pretty low profile.
FYI, my Date of Manufacture sticker on my drive is 11/29/22 and it had the latest firmware on it. Hopefully that helps folks save some time. If your DOM is later than that there is likely no firmware update needed if you want to use it in your PS5.

Just got mine. DOM is 18December 2022. Checked WD website and the latest firmware was just released.

Version: 3.8.2.9 | Installer: 5.3.2.2
Release Date: 01/18/2023

Using it for PS5. Do I need to update?
