I've used dozens of their individually switched usb hubs for years on test stations in a electronic mfg facility without ever having an issue. They seem to be bulletproof. I've tried lots of other more expensive ones that all died within a year. No idea on their other products though.

Weird.

After 20 years I just had my first post at SD deleted for some reason. Does one get a debriefing on what the reason is via email or something?

Is it because I mentioned the popular Amazon price-tracking website? I'm not sure why that would be as a website like SlickDeals with the theme of getting good deals.. I would think would want people to check that website out to find the best deals.

Anyway, all I said was that if you look at the price history of these Sabrent products (of which I own a few and they work fine) .. that these prices are not some big sale, they are a few dollars less than normal.

For instance the $16 USB3 powered version says list price $35 .. but it's been selling never above $20.

Should see a message in your SD inbox, the admins reply to make sure you know the reason. I had one banned/blocked due to it being a vendor SD does not approve of. Good Luck!

I bought that 4 port powered switched hub last september and the hub would randomly disconnect from my computer and made a high pitched whining noise. I ended up sending it back.

Thanks amitshetye04. I just checked my messages and see nothing yet. I'll check again later.

I have the 4-port USB2 model for many years and it has worked fine. It is not powered though. I keep it plugged into my Nvidia Shield so I don't wear out the ports on the back of the Shield itself.

Yea, it's likely I got unlucky with a defective one. Just a heads up for things to watch out for.

don't even bother with the non-powered hub, but I wouldn't even try their powered hubs. the usb slots are sloppy to the extent that plugged-in cables just fall out.

Yeah, I really haven't been impressed with this brand.

Why don't bother with non-powered hub?

I would think a powered hub is needed for high-current-draw devices, but what about the usual wireless mouse/keyboard dongles and such? Wouldn't the power from the computer be enough for that?

I also use a non-powered USB2 hub with my Shield and it has two portable 2.5" hard drives connected for years and haven't had a problem, at least in that read-only scenario.
