Put these two cards together, and spend just $2,500 on the other (the Citi Platinum Select World Elite card) in the first three months. Bam: You've got 110,000 American Airlines miles. All without paying an annual fee in your first year.
That's an easier (and cheaper) path to pile up more than 100,000 miles than you'll find with almost any other airline. Of course, it requires opening two credit cards and responsibly meeting the minimum spending requirement

Generally speaking a point redemption should give you about 1.5-2 cents of value. For example if you book a flight on AA using 25,000 points, that flight should cost minimum $400 to be a reasonable point redemption and $500 for it to be a great redemption.
If I look at flights and it's a 1:1 ā so for example a $250 flight is 25,000 points, I will purchase that flight using my credit card instead.
It takes trial and error, playing around with the various websites and before you know it you'll get the hang of it.
17 business days already and I still haven't received the physical card to activate yet. Did any of ya'll receive your card? And how long did it take?
Also, ask a flight attendant for a sign-up pamphlet for the aviator and you get 500 in flight miles. Ask a friend to pick up one on the plan on their next flight.
For me it's been insanely easy. I'm in the Midwest. They connect everywhere out here. And frequently are worth >2.0
Agreed and the YMMV warning is fair in general for anyone new to accruing and using points and miles with any program, AAdvantage included.
There can be a lot of nuance for those not familiar with the program offerings.
That said, if you are familiar with how to best earn and burn miles, you can get a ton of value. I just booked a non-stop RT to Spain via PHL for about 3 cents/mile, which is competitive. For reference, I've been Platinum for 8 years and consider myself well versed on the program.
