This size is especially useful for diesel pickup trucks that use 12+ quarts of oil, which is way too much for most drain pans to handle. Thanks for posting OP.

Edit: I just grabbed one for free pick-up today at my local O'Reilly. Nice price for a 5 gallon "big boy" drain pan. It will get regular use for a variety of tasks around my home and shop.

Nice! I have a lot of diesel engines that need oil changes and I've been using the bottom of plastic 55 gallon drum!

I just picked mine up. Not as tall as I expected; it's exactly 7" tall. Many cars require jack stands to get to the filter and drain plug; if there's room for your torso under the car there's definitely room for this drain pan. Hope that helps.

i use it on a kia optima on ramps as well as a vw atlas.

If you are looking for one with a filter holder, I personally uses the one found here: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hopkins-...1002613618 Simple no frills drain pan, gets the job done, wide and long enough to help contain mess, and short enough to slide under most cars without jack. Just need a little bit of patience when it comes to pouring used oil into jugs.

Just curious, why you need a filter holder?

To help drain the remaining oil from filter. A lot of places do not recycle oil filter so they go into landfill. Just doing my small part to help dispose of oil properly. Also, makes a lot less mess as I can just place the filter onto the filter holder and let things drain out before disposal.

The real value in the OP offering is the 20 quart volume. The one you posted is 11 quarts... fine for most up to medium duty sized trucks, but most big trucks will swamp that 11 quarts in a hurry.

I didn't know oil filter recycling was a thing. How does that work? It's steel, old oil, paper, rubber and paint.

Make sure you consider the fact that you're left with an open container of fluid.

You can get an ENCLOSED drain pan for about the same price. This means you can drain your vehicle, then simply plug up the drain pan and take it directly to your disposal site. No need to transfer to another container.
