I have the same question. If it is not special pre order pricing, why not wait for reviews to determine more about 8 vs 16 on ram?
Because there's plenty of reviews now of the 8GB and it still runs just as good.

Ram is ram. If there isn't enough ram it uses page file and pushes it to the SSD. These just have good SSDs so the paging is fast.
So confidently incorrect. Yikes.

can MacOS split 4 open windows into quadrants like Windows 11?

or is that a 2029 year slated release?
It will be 2029 and be the most innovative first ever quadrant display. That and they might finally add a touch screen.

Great price! I am not sure if anybody like me. I need to use a software called "Sage 50- formally Peachtree" for accounting/inventory/invoices in my office. This software is limited to run on Windows only. I am not sure if it is feasible to run a VM on Mac. How fast is the VM on base model?

I think Costco is going to be tough to beat this price. You can imagine Costco will probably list it at $550 or $570, but if you are able to get the $499 pricing from apple education will be tough to beat.

I checked for humors sake and trade in on a Mac Mini is only recycle if its older than the 2018 model hahaha
Personally, I'm Going to wait for Costco, 90 day easy return policy makes it worth it just in case. I had issues with the m1 unit I got at Costco, so I returned and decided to wait until m2 came out.

Good call. Ashamed the five year warranty is going away. Bought my base M1 Mac Mini for 550 with the 5 year coverage at Costco. It's a great little computer and I am excited for this to be a lower price point for people who have held out.

crazy, 16GB with 512GB SSD will cost $1200?

Hope they base it like 16GB RAM for $700....
Its not. $1200 price you are saying also gets an upgraded cpu/gpu.

Unfortunately the M chips don't support dual boot into Windows officially based on my understanding.

There are other VM-based solutions that may allow you to do that, but it just isn't officially supported unlike the older Macs that run on Intel chips.

I wonder if this has the same problem as MacBook Air 256gb with 8gb.
As far as I'm aware this also has the same issue with the SSD being slower because of the NAND configuration of a single module vs the dual modules in the 512GB config.
