Correct, you have ~30 days to port / activate. They will even send you a reminder. Currently the BYOD offer is gone but if you have a friend with a dual sim iphone there is a pretty easy way to get the $200 BYOD credit on a by the gig plan. My buddy on T-Mobile with a dual sim iphone said he'd love to have backup voice/text coverage on the Verizon network when T-Mobile isn't available. I ported over a google voice number for $3 + $10 and provided his second e-sim slot and added to my by the gig plan. Since he's not going to use data it costs nothing more, other than $3 / month tax on the extra line. Port took a day or so. Voila, he magically now has backup Verizon network coverage. I really just did this as a favor for him, and will use the $200 BYOD credit to cover the porting cost and the extra $3 tax for the next ~5 years, but you could just cancel the line after you get the gift card, wash rinse repeat with another eSIM slot.

It impacts the credit. I did the sim swaps and lost the credit. I had to work with their tech to restore it back to the phone to get the credit back.
Curious what phone this was? Seems like another person said that iPhone 14 with eSIM was a no go, but maybe physical SIM (iPhone 12 mini) is different?
I asked XM about this a bit ago and they said it was no problem to switch phones/lines between 2 on the account. So I got the 12 mini promo for my mom (using a kid's GV number) and then called XM CS and asked them to swap the numbers, b/c I don't want my kid to have a new phone and my mom to have an old one. They said I'd lose the the device credits, even if I keep both numbers active for 24 months.
I asked if I could just swap the SIMS and she kind of said yes, so I tried it an the numbers swapped in terms of making/receiving calls. Online still shows the original phone/line match.
But now I'm concerned about losing the device credits. Another post said to wait 60 days and then swap via CS. I may stop by the XM store with my mom and both phones while she's in town and see if they can just fix it and keep the device credits.
Otherwise, I was thinking I could port my mom's number to GV and tie it to my kid's number on the new iphone, so she can still make/receive calls with her usual number. Then get a new GV number for my kid for the old iphone.
I've physically swapped sims from old phone to new phone and it works just fine.
This is just how I've done it but I do let the new line with the ported in number marinate in the phone for a few days just in case XM does some kind of validation. I make calls to and from that phone.
I haven't had a problem with the credits and I've done this with 6 lines on XM.
I wouldn't bother contacting XM to change the phone # to the phone's IMEI. Mine are all mismatched over the years and it doesn't bother me. As long as the credits are hitting my account, I'm happy.
Do any one got luck to unlock the phone ? I wanted to send this phone outside us to my relative so wanted to check options
For a genuine unlock, you need to wait until after phone is paid off, which is 24 months.
The way to unlock an iPhone without service requirements is a soft unlock using R-SIM. When you soft unlock, you need to be on the latest iOS version. If you are jailbroken, you need to install a tweak to spoof the latest iOS.

Is the BYOD promo still valid? How long do you have to keep service to get the $200 credit?

Thanks, yes it's ported in to GV, got a notice that's the line was removed from XF. Still shows up on my xf account, it's been about 18 hours. Hoping to get the $450 off promo by 1/31. Hopefully it clears by Tuesday.
Did this work for you ok? Port out then port back in? Trying to take advantage of the current BF deal 🙂
