... thanks for the quick reply and link. I got it to work, I'm using LITE subscription. It is lined up in single mode, meaning my 4 cams are vertical mode. Can you get it in grid mode ... where it has 2 camera's on one row, and next 2 camera's in next row.
Unfortunately not.

Cheaper on amazon with overnight shipping at $25. To be honest, I would hesitate, I have 2 v2 cameras that worked fine for over 1 year and after the last update became very flaky, I factory reset and even downgraded and upgraded firmware but they never seem to come back to reliable. So, I "feel" like they pull the trick of degrading old ones so you buy new ones.
Based on this comment I want to say that some of their founders / engineers came from apple. However, I think they were amazon actually.

All my old iOS devices eventually develop random error-itis. We generally keep them for the kids to face time relatives. They all drop calls when rotating the screen. 🤷 Da-fudge apple?

A few people here said they requested free shipping coupons (?) via chats.
Do you do this via the online chat box? I tried myself but it only gave me irrelevant information.

Or request it after you completed the order. Thanks!

I just called Wyze CS after I placed the order for two OG cameras. The CS told me that these two OG cameras will ONLY take still photo after the trial period if I don't choose a paid subscription. I am wondering if this particular CS doesn't know his job or is this actually true? I was hoping OG cameras can still do a short video clip after being motion triggered just as Arlo camera does. Can someone help me here? Is that CS guy wrong? Or this OG camera definitely needs paid subscription order to take video clip. Thanks.

Does it allow for poe? Does it have onvif or anyway to connect to BI or Synology Surveillance Station?

That's exactly why I didn't buy one. The new cameras can't be used with Cam Plus Lite, which allows you to view the 12 second clip for free or whatever price you want to pay.

CS is correct. The newer camera models (Pan V3, OG, OG Tele, etc) can no longer utilize the "name your price (i.e. free)" Lite subscription. Without paying for the $20 per year per camera Cam PLUS subscription (or $99/year for 99 cameras), all you get is basic motion detection and no cloud video recording. Without the cloud AI, you will get motion notification for all things (people or trees). Also, you will only get a static picture on an OG versus the Lite subscription on a V3 will give you 12 seconds worth of video for every 5 minutes time period.

You can still get video clip to store locally on the camera itself if you add a SD card to it and enable the "continuous" recording mode. However, the playback is somewhat cumbersome and obviously you get no video if thieves just take the camera.

I don't blame Wyze for changing their business model. There is real cost to utilize cloud hosting services (say AWS or Azure) to upload, AI process to detect objects, store, and also serve the video backdown to your App. You really shouldn't expect a $20 retail camera to have the CPU power to AI detect people/car/pets/packages. You definitely shouldn't expect an one-time $20 purchase will yield you a camera and lifetime worth of cloud-based services.

There are camera model such as Wyze V3 Pro at $50 that can at least do people detection onboard if you want less false-positives on motion. There are other much more $$$ ones such as Eufy which can do everything locally if you want. Also this just mean that you are paying for hardware/service upfront.

I hate monthly subscription as much as the next guy, but there are real cost to company to provide cloud related services. At least Wyze didn't pull an "Arlo" and took away the "free 7-day cloud storage" by proclaiming older hardware as deprecated. Wyze is still supporting older hardware. Feel free to buy slightly older hardware such as V3 at $35 price point if the "free" Lite subscription is important to you.

I got burned by Arlo already (I have about 8 cameras at much higher total cost). All the big boys (Arlo, Ring, Nest, etc.) all have similar model and similar price point. I picked Wyze as my Arlo replacement simply because their cheaper upfront cost and I am paying for the $99/year for "unlimited" camera subscription.

Arlo has similar subscription price point, but you will not get me to pay them another dime for the stunt they pulled. I think what Wyze is doing is fair. You want LITE subscription, buy older hardware. You want the new shiny and cheaper camera, subscription is required if you want cloud service.

No on POE (unless you want to buy a 3rd party POE to 5V power only converter and there is no ethernet port). No onvif either unless you want to flash a non-supported RTSP firmware on the older V3 camera. This only support 2.4GHz Wifi as connection, but do you really want to run BI or Synology on Wifi?

On the product page, if it has Buy with Prime, then it's currently free shipping. I tested on a number of products and ordered the OG.

Someone posted a picture of a HomeDepot display before the official announcement showing the "normal" price of the OG will be at $30 a piece. The current price of 2X OG at $39 + $6 shipping is not quite as good as the HomeDepot clearance sale for 2X V3 cameras at $35 earlier. However, that sale is no longer available and no one knows how long this $20 intro price will last.

We all want a top performing car like Tesla S Plaid at $20K and it better comes with free "unlimited" SuperCharging since it doesn't run without energy and I already paid $20k for it. If you are only willing to pay $20 for a simple camera, then don't expect it to come with all the bell-n-whistles like onboard AI detection, free cloud storage, etc.

It cost several hundred dollars to get a machine fast enough to run BI or Synology. It also cost $ to pay for electricity to run a beefy machine to do all the AI stuff. I rather pay Wyze to run and maintain that. Yes, there are privacy issues, but do you really think the HIKVision/Dahua/Chinese specials are any better?

Many thanks for the details and confirmation. I would suggest OP put this at the beginning of message chain so other people wouldn't place order without knowing this.

Another bad thing for ordering on Wyze web site, you can NOT cancel order if it is placed more than 2 hours. It doesn't give you the option. It says you have to wait to receive the order then ask for a return, sigh..

Partially true. V3 Pro has onboard "people detection" so it doesn't rely on cloud CamPlus AI to recognize people (versus other cameras like V3 OG needs CamPlus). Also, without the paid plan, you are limited to 12 second cloud recording every 5 minutes when you sign up for the "free" CamPlus LITE plan.

This V3 OG will require paid subscription to do more intelligent detection such as people, car, pet, and packages. Without that, you may get a bunch of unnecessary notifications of moving trees, clouds, etc. As other has already mentioned, the free plan doesn't apply to this new OG camera.
My understanding is V3 Pro isn't compatible with CamPlus LITE plan either. Does that mean it can't even do 12 second cloud recording every 5 minutes without a CamPlus PRO plan?

You are correct here. V3 Pro doesn't support Lite plan either. Based on their FAQ, pretty much all new cameras released since April 2022 can not use Lite.

"Does the Wyze Cam v3 Pro support Cam Plus Lite?

No, as of right now, Cam Plus Lite only supports cameras released during or before April 2022, such as Wyze Cam Outdoor v2."
