I have not read the terms of this version. However, a previous version in its terms said that your blood pressure readings will be uploaded to Omron. And, Omron can use your blood pressure readings for anything they want.

Multiple consecutive (with 45-60 secs rest in between) is the gold standard for accuracy. It helps eliminate "whitecoat syndrome" or "whitecoat hypertension" resulting from anxiety. A lot of health systems actually use it in ambulatory clinics for that reason. They will hook you up, leave the room and it counts down a couple mins and measures you alone in the room 2-3x and they come back in to get the readings and remove the cuff. This method also has a built in cool down period because of the countdown and multiple readings.

Not saying you need it but that's it's purpose.

I'm pretty surprised this still isn't FP. It's a great deal on a really good unit. I helped my dad order one to replace his 15 year old model.

what's to stop you from using one without truread to simply repeat the process 2-3 times?

Nothing, you totally can but true read will do it automatically and has some sort of algorythm that is more than just an average. No idea what their proprietary deal is on that, I always show my primary the 3 readings. But I *think* that it weighs the second two more as tyically they are lower due to more cool down time so it's more about looking for eliminating outliers than the average.

One thing I talk with a lot of our clinics about regarding manual vs auto cuffs, they think the manual is more accurate but they forget the fact that they are measuring begining of visit etc with auto, then later with manual. Which has a rest bias. What they are probably, actually seeing(but not 100%) is the result of more rest not the machine vs manual cuff.

There are zero studies that show that manual is better/more accurate (in practice) vs calibrated auto cuffs. Even though a calibrated manual, mercury sphegmanometer is more accurate than digital, that's before you introduce human error. Did you see exactly when the needle matched what you heard?

Got ONE last week but has to return it, Portability is the main issue here cos it is TOO BIG N bulky for senior.. I wish it is the size of 3 Series.
