Just tried out my Wage headset. Very cheap feeling but very lightweight. Sound is actually very respectable. Headband is a little loud when wearing but kind of fun to play with.

How does the Amazon Basics HDMI cables compare to Monster Cables brand? For about double the price I could get Monster brand at olies w/ coupon.

With all due respect, on what planet is Monster considered to be the gold standard?

My old '1080p' cables still do 4k… is 4k cables a scam?
they are either doing upscaling to 4k or 4k@30Hz. These do 4k@60Hz. When amazon first put these on clearance, I bought the hdmi cables that are good for 4k@120Hz or 8k@60Hz

Do you mean the original Monster cables brand that was massively overpriced and usually sold at Best Buy?

Thanks OP. One never knows when you might need a $2 15 foot HDMI cable. Then again I can just add it to the pile of stuff I have, but don't use, but acquired due to SD.
This is why this is called SlickDeals. Makes our money slick and we drop it easily on things we don't need Smilie

This view is leftover from the old days when the bulk majority of cable purchases were made at physical electronics stores. At that time, Monster was considered the top of the line at stores like Best Buy and Circuit City. A Monster HDMI cable used to run $100+. It was a complete ripoff but it solidified Monster as the 'gold standard', almost literally because they were one of the first to include 'gold connections', for a long time.

(laughing) Oh yes, I certainly do remember the days. There were few things more aggravating than arguing about HDMI cables with the college kid working the floor at Best Buy. I just thought it was common knowledge 15 years later. Then again, I recently heard someone make a similar statement about Bose speakers in another thread. The marketing worked apparently.

Grabbed an HDMI cable. Never know when you'll need an extra.

I think it's definitely common knowledge that there isn't a justifiable reason to spend $30+ on an HDMI cable but having bought many different brands over the years, there are noticeable differences in quality between different ones. Monster might not be the 'gold standard' it once was viewed as but I could see a reasonable person thinking that it might be worth spending a whole $2 more for a Monster cable over an Amazon branded one. I don't know where that other guy is finding a $4 15' Monster HDMI cable but that's what he said when he asked that question.

I picked up the wage gaming headset for 4 bucks and it is SUPER impressive for 4 bucks. Blocks out noise, solid sound quality, and even the mic was good when I tested it. I was super impressed. If you want to hook it up to a pc with a separate mic and headphone jack you will need to buy an adapter though, as it just has one 3.5 mm plug.

Local Ollie's Bargain Outlet. They have a very large selection of Monster cables; both HDMI and Coaxial. Currently a 6ft for $4.99, 15ft for $7.99, 25ft for $14.99. There is a 15% off coupon going around till feb 12. So, just asking as an uninformed consumer, is it better to spend a few bucks more for the "Monster" brand. Each are 21 Gbps not the 18 Gbps listed in this SD.

Probably? I wouldn't expect them to be anything special though either. Just... phone cables.

Though, in my opinion, three-foot cables should be reserved to car use. Get six-foot or longer for at home. Three barely makes it from the wall to my nightstand.
All depends on your usage. I actually wish I could find deals on decent 1.5-foot or shorter USB-C cables. I have a side table with a 5-port charger where we charge our tablets and phones, and the 3-foot cables are pretty unruly. Shorter would make everything much neater.
