Yes, these are cheap, but they're also 3-4 years old. Figure batteries may not be in top condition. And CPUs are several generations old; fine for standard business work but don't expect these to be the best for gaming or video creation/editing.

Likely these are off-lease business laptops. Not TC'ing, just know what you're getting into.

How on earth is an $800 Macbook a relevant alternative to a $300 refurbished Windows laptop?

I also don't understand the 'outdated' concept. An 8th gen i7 will do literally any task that 99.9999999% of computer users do today and for the next 5 years. And 32GB of RAM is a ridiculous amount for even a brand-new laptop. What are people doing with their computers that the above isn't enough? My only concern with this refurbished machine would be battery life.

That's some sound logic right there. True words of wisdom.

Instead of buying a 2 year old used car for $12k you should instead buy a $36k new car because it's better.

For people with battery life issues, how is Dell with giving you a new one? What info do you need to provide?
I don't think they give out batteries for old laptops. amazon ebay for about $20

There is no reason anyone should buy these when you can buy latest gen refurbished one's with 2 year warranty for $385. This is no longer active but wanted to share to give people an idea that there are cheaper and newer options if one can wait for a bit

Costco also has regular sales on laptops starting at 400-450 which will be much faster and have warranty

that is 3x as much as some of these with coupon ($139)
true.

meh, i got mine for less than that. the issue is whether you want a refurbished business computer, mine was a latitude. sure you can get any kind of pc out there with more money, however if i can get an older high end pc for pennies and save the land filling waste, what's not to like.

To be fair, these are off lease Corollas. Maybe 4 years old off lease Corollas. But they run well for 10 years so...
While I agree Latitude laptops aren't exotic or sexy, they're definitely not "Corollas". As others have pointed out, they're designed for business use, solidly constructed and easy to upgrade or repair. And new unit pricing is way out of the "Corolla" laptop range. I purchased an A-grade 7490 (8th gen CPU) on this deal for $251. The equivalent current model (albeit with a 12th gen CPU) currently lists for over $2500.

smh... these laptops are a phenomenal deal, and this guy wants you to know that the processors aren't the latest generation.

Had 2 5300 2-in-1 with 16 GB pop up. i7 quad. B grade. Not happy about that, but I don't think I'll find better. Do these come with pretty clean installs so I can just jump them to 11 or do you have to reformat all the junkware out of it? What else should I look for/test for immediately out of the box (other than battery)?

Got slightly better price with this one!

Edit: Not that I need to spend more money, but for a cheap, toss in the car system, I see some cheap No OS systems. Anyone ever bought one of these and seen if they'll activate 10/11? For a Xeon I doubt it has any activation tied to the hardware, but for a cheap little 'netbook' thing, I can't imagine it wasn't originally sold with Windows S.

Is the SSD SATA or NVMe PCIe?
My Dell Refurbished 7400 2-in-1 has a 2556GB Micron 2200S NVME but CrystalDiskInfo says 84% health. CrystalDiskMark using the default 1GB test shows 2,940MBps read, 1,083MBps write.
It's not my main machine anyways.

I know my refurbished Dell Optiplex 7060 SFF desktop with a Core i7-8700 came with a Micron SATA M.2 SSD and I swapped it out with an NVME.
