It's a natural progression from the visual novels. You might like this, if you're a fan of point-and-click adventure games. Otherwise, it's likely too slow for most people.
There's a lot of talking though. It also feels like half the puzzles require that you listen to all of that talking.

For anyone unfamiliar with the series, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines came out almost 20 years ago (there are other various small offshoot games that I've never tried, but that was the big one. I'm not even sure if the others are technically games or just interactive novels). It was a great action/adventure RPG set in Santa Monica and a few other places around L.A., in modern times. The gameplay was Elder Scrolls/Fallout style. It had a lot of dialogue, but also action and a great story.
This is a third person game where you do nothing but walk around and talk, while doing some investigating that honestly is not interesting at all. "Battles" take place in the form of arguments. There is zero combat in the game. It's a bunch of dialogue choices that are very much trial and error a lot of the time. It's incredibly boring and sometimes very frustrating. There are no manual saves, and the dialogue choices almost never give you any hint as to whether or not they're the right choice to win the argument. Sometimes you'll swear you picked the best option, but then it causes you to lose the battle. Sometimes you can just back out to the main menu and load up right at the beginning of the conversation, but other times, you have to restart the entire level, if you want to get the best endings to each level. It's almost a requirement to use a guide in order to get the most out of this game.
There's honestly too much negative about this game for me to go into. Just go look at the plethora of terrible reviews on it. It got a 4 out of 10 score from tons of sites.

Pirate vampire game. I'd probably enjoy it more.
Bloodlines is on sale for 50% off on GOG. DRM free with the patch included is a better deal.
