These are all off lease. Unlike Dell Outlet who sometimes sells returns, overstocks, or QC rejects, Dell refurbished is part of the group that leases out computers to buyers (like the leasing unit of your car dealer) - mainly small businesses and large corporations.

Someone was using the computer for some time, but usage may vary. It could have been left on someone's desk for 3 years or it could have been dropped a dozen times on concrete. After Dell Leasing takes it back, cleans it, makes sure everything runs, they then assess and assign a cosmetic grade. A is the highest, so it should look almost perfect - e.g. no dent no scratch.

This is done by human so sometimes they make a mistake and assign the wrong grade or didn't realize something is broken, so in that case you can complain to them and they will very likely offer some remedy to you.

I would only recommend grade A because they are already so cheap. But if you're also interested in other grades most of those are available on eBay (I used to bid on grade B on eBay and you might save an additional $20 or $40).

Walk out the door with a reasonable full computer (Dell though, so expect proprietary stuff) for $150 or so with SSD drive. That's not bad for a SFF.

Burns too much energy.

You want something similar to the following for pfsense.

Thanks, am looking for something in latest gen intel or amd processors with that level of low TDP, that can be future proofed for another 5yr. Everytime i search for a build for pfsense is mostly recommended specs are are either 8th gen i3's or celeron J series am afraid it might lack the upgrade path of 10Gbe ethernet of complex firewall rules. Also considering the fact that the machine i build now should be capable of future builds of pfsense.

thanks. i am thrilled with my Grade A Dell Refurbished lap top, no way was the laptop case used.......totally new. a tech suggested Dell may have thrown it into a new case, but that doesn't seem likely: how can they make a profit doing that and sell it for $100 plus dollars???

i may open the case and check out the inside, but the battery is new too, the only thing that isn't is the SSD with 750 hours on it.

guess my question is: are all Grade A Dell refurbished computers really this good? or was i just fortunate enuf to snag an over the top Great One??? hmmm may have to call Dell.
