Deluxe will import all of your stock sales from your brokerage, you don't need Premier for that. Most brokerages are supported, but I would double check with TurboTax for your specific brokerage (doesn't matter which version of TurboTax you use if your brokerage isn't supported).

I can't speak to the refund policy at Newegg, but the upgrade cost from Deluxe to Premier is $35 and the upgrade to Home and Business is $50.

I'm 99% sure you won't need to upgrade to Premier. I've used Deluxe for years and have several tax situations that are all handled by Deluxe.

Requiring an upgrade to Premier for importing stock transactions is a difference between the online version and the download/installable version. Online TurboTax requires you to upgrade to Premier. The downloadable version does not. Based on your situation, the downloadable version of Deluxe will meet your needs.

Yep - I just noticed that on the TT site. I'll still most likely need to pay, as the wife was on unemployment for a month or two (stupid Covid crap)...and that makes it, in TT eyes...no longer a 'simple' return.

I know in the past few years, most of the places I checked you HAD to file state through them at a cost...maybe I overlooked TT...

Download is the same as CD/Desktop AFAIK at this point. The online version is different.

I'm a big believer that most people do not need the Premier version of the installable/downloadable TurboTax. I have been using Deluxe for many years for all sorts of situations. I've used it for self-employment, rental property, Inherited IRA distributions, IRA contributions, Roth conversions, stock sales, itemized deductions, and K-1s.
Does the Deluxe work for Rental Income? Last year I used Premier. I have investments and sold a primary home last year as well.
