I got a refurb A1 off of buy dig on eBay last month. There doesn't appear to be a single thing wrong with it. Not a single dead pixel, not a single scratch or mark. As far as I can tell it is brand new. And that's despite FedEx trying to destroy it. I don't know if woot uses a different refurb service then buy dig, but I wouldn't run away just because it's refurb.
Seems like a good deal but the 90 day warranty isn't great. I'm inclined to wait for another eBay sale with a 2-yrar warranty if planning to buy refurbished.

Thoughts on using 42" as a computer monitor? Will it auto turn off when idle? text clarity? anyone with experience care to share?
My brother has it for his new/current set up. He loves it, and does a little bit of everything on it. He edits videos for work, for his Youtube, and does a little bit of gaming. I was in the market as well with my new set up.
I don't think it auto turns off, as I was concerned with that as well. You also have to turn it on like a TV when turning on your PC. It's not like a traditional monitor like that. But the picture quality is unmatched for the price. I'm trying to find a 4k monitor that will give me similar specs for price and there basically is none. Most are IPS monitors, low contrast, and can't even display HDR bright enough.
This is so close to the C2 sale prices on new units that I am surprised on the thumbs ups... 90 day warranty for a refurbished (store return/repaired unit) I would expect at least a 25% discount off best sale prices.

I agree. 48 is $1049 at Costco and 55 is $12xx plus tax. Tax on woot also. Not worth the trouble to save $2-300. For half of this I'd take a chance.

If you're going to be doing desktop work it's not the monitor for you. There are lots of reviews on YouTube that go over a pretty well. In my opinion it's just not set up right to be used as a PC monitor.

I have the 42" as my second monitor. In fact I'm typing on it right now. It works great as a second monitor, I don't know if I would use it as my only monitor though. The burn-in is real, though I've not personally experienced it. I have mine set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, have a black desktop background, taskbar auto hides, and desktop icons hidden. Basically it's just a blank black screen when it's on unless I pull something over to it. And of course with it being an OLED, it's essentially off when there's nothing but black to display.
Gaming as you would expect is mind blowing on it, and all of the gaming features are excellent. Browsing the web on it is great also, but it is pretty big size wise (and resolution wise) for that. I do some photo editing on it, but I do try to be cognizant of static menus and such so I move my windows around periodically and use a dark theme in any app that I can.
So far it's been really great as a monitor. No issues at all to report. If you have the desk space to use as a second monitor I highly recommend it.
EDIT: With that said, I don't know that I would go refurb on an OLED. That's just me, but I'm scared to death of burn-in and I want to start from 0 hours on it. Who knows how that screen was treated previously.
