youll have to click on them and look, but they are either remote controlled, app controlled, both remote and app controlled, music sync controlled. one has black background tape and usually cost a couple dollars more, but most have white background tape. one has a clear coat protection and can be used inside or outside (note just the gel covered tape light part is water protected, not the controller or power adapter). one of the 32' is actually two 16' strips connected in the middle by a "Y" power splitter and is remote, app, music mode, and timer controlled.

note that the led lights are spaced apart more then a while back previously, but they are bright lights.
at minimum you want RGBIC, not just RGB
What sucks is none of the models on sale are the WiFi models and all are the Bluetooth models for app control.

I highly recommend looking at the M1 version of the Govee lights. They have the highest number of LEDs per foot so they get super bright and have an excellent effect.

How are these comparing to the Cree light deals from Lowe's a couple of weeks ago?

I have the version with the camera that matches the colors on your TV. Pretty cool effect.

FWIW Govee wifi products work with HomeKit if you use home bridge. They (govee) did put some limits around their API which I ran in to and that disabled all control via homebridge for a day. You can help this by upping your API check times, etc.

Do you have to manually turn the lights on/off? Or can they be somehow tied to TV power? I wanted that at first, but wanted USB light so it can just turn on/off automatically with the TV.

Wifi models are expensive over Bluetooth ones atleast by $10 for the feature

These I believe are 24V and USB only does 5V so I don't think these are a fit for your uses case. I have it on Kasa power plug and I control on/off on the power plug.

There's a timeout schedule, but I kind of like the lights on all the time for ambient light.

FYI, the RGBIC strip lights are able to display multi-colors at one time like a rainbow or aurora vs. the RGB only are generally color select.

The biggest thing though is these are not wifi so they are not Alexa or Google compatible.

With that said, I like Govee and have and generally work good, but all of mine are integrated with my network.

I had the 50' one. Used it maybe 5 times? It wouldn't turn on anymore so I threw it out.

Totally agree. You can't get the color you want with these lights and they're just not bright enough. Certain colors are just not possible for these lights to produce. Even though the color wheel would lead you to believe that you can set it to any color, the lights show different color than what you selected in the app.

I have to say what do you expect for what they want for them they're cheap but at least they give somebody a chance to have some LED strip lights instead of paying big money for Philips hue strip lights. Also do you even own them do You know what they're like???

Has anyone hacked the IC models to run on a ESP32? What kind of LED is used for these? WS2812B? These look like great prices for project LEDs if so
from the pictures they appear to be some variant of ws2811 but with 6 pixels per controller instead of the usual three.

for those wondering what the heck that means, the leds are not truly "IC" aka "independently controlled". Six individual led lights in a row act as a single, and will have the same color at any given time. And the strips can be cut only at the correct point between each six.
