Not if you buy generic on eBay, where you can get 100 melamine sponges for under $15 shipped (US shipping) from a highly rated seller or 50 for under $10. Just search for "Magic Eraser".

My biggest tip with these is only wet the last 1/4 inch of the block. Do not wet the entire block. If you follow this advise it will last you 10 times as long!
You can even cut these down with scissors to smaller off cuts. You hardly ever need to use a whole block when using these!

I buy them every time they are on sale , but don't know how to use them 😕.How exactly do you use them?
The best on baseboards! Dogs rub up against boards and oil transfers..I used on rental properties and it cleans all tubs, toilets and candle wax..The scrub and foam are the Best! Be careful on shiny porcelain, as others have stated.

Most of the generic melamine sponges fall apart within moments of using them. The magic erasers have a bit of a special formula I agree, BUT, if you search for the Dr Wow brand on Amazon (the package has a smiley face design) these are also pretty awesome. Good luck!

I've bought those cheap ones off of eBay in the past. YMMV but I found that those crumbled and fell apart much faster than the name brand. Particularly bad when using on baseboards ans trim or anything that isn't super smooth and sealed like bathroom tile or slick plastic like light switches. Instead of having the additional task of sweeping up tiny melamine crumbles off of the floor, I've gone back to using MrClean.

IMO, Magic Erasers these days don't last as long a they used to. I am more inclined to stick with generic melamine sponges.

I bought similar on eBay before. They are poor quality and fall apart.

Did you happen to use them wet or dry?

These aren't one time use sponges are they?
While you can use each *sponge* more than once (only wet the portion of the sponge you are scrubbing with), each *portion* of the sponge gets used up as that portion is scrubbed on the area you are cleaning. Think of them as consumables.

I miss the days when you could buy cheap generic sponges for 5¢ a piece. These are the best I've found of the generic melamine sponges. They are about the same size as the Mr. Clean so a little bigger and thicker than most generics and good durability. $12.99 for 50 or 26¢ each.

Be careful when used on high gloss/shiny surface, it will take the shine off if rubbed too hard.

Do you notice the glass gets scratched up? Thinking of using them for cleaning the shower door/tile.
I have been using Magic Eraser on my glass and acrylic aquarium for almost a decade now. No issues at all and it's reef safe!

This deal is $0.60 per eraser.
Or you can get 100 for $9.50 on ebay, making them only $0.10 per eraser.

I've paid $1 for 1 of these, so this looks like a solid deal.
