In for one - will be interesting to see how it holds up to MN winters. Temperature range only goes to -4. Hoping to use it for xmas decorations.

Apparently it can be flashed with Tasmota or ESPHome, so I got one.

I flashed two of them with ESPHome and they work fantastically well with HomeAssistant. Been operating in a MN winter with lots of snow and cold and they haven't failed me yet.

I use it indoors. Works fine, seems to take longer to recover if power goes out.

Requires soldering to flash tasmota. Looks like they fixed the OTA reflashing.

Usually in these kinds of deals someone talks about UL-List... is this needed here? I don't see it mentioned but I am just going on what the "experts" have to say Big Grin

Anyone one of a good app that allows for semi-random on-off times? I want to put this on a timer, but not go on and off at exactly the same time each day.My
Wyze lightbulbs do this in the app. It's called vacation mode. Not sure about the plug.

I think the kasa version could - at least it did for my smart bulbs

I have one of these, a Kasa double, and a generic one that runs on SmartLife... honestly, they're all the same. They do what they're supposed to do without any complaints.
Wyze has something to setup the rule that Kasa cannot do. Also, Wyze is using Bluetooth to setup wifi things initially

Has anyone considered that, as a major surveillance company owned and operated in the most untrustworthy communist surveillance state on the planet, perhaps Wyze isn't the best company to entrust with privacy?

I can't believe people put these things in their home, let them record, and hook it up to the internet. Insanity.
Do you use a computer and/or smarthphone that has Wifi, Bluetooth, or is connected to the internet?

Obviously yes, so you're already being tracked.

And Wyze is based out of SEATTLE WASHINGTON -- not China. Save that ire for Anker/Eufy, who has been proven to collect private data & track you, without your permission or knowledge -- and unlike Wyze, Anker/Eufy IS based entirely in China.

Unless you're inferring that the USA is the most untrustworthy surveillance state on the planet. Which is kinda hard to disagree with.

Hah you're so edgy, not even spelling out "you". Gotta save up the letters 'y' and 'o' for that street cred!
