Product Information:
  • PLA Plus+ is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It does not require a heated base and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA Plus+ is stronger than ordinary PLA, possessing the same strength as normal ABS material.
  • The 1.0kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature range of 205 ~ 225°C (401 ~ 437°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.
  • The negatives of using PLA Plus+ is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

I make no claim about this particular brand of filament. I Feel like I should just mention for the community at large:

Among other quotes:
"It is widely known in communities which are pickier about properties that white filament requires a percentage of pigments much higher than other colours, therefore white filaments are typically weaker (or significantly weaker) than most other colours."

You're correct, as well as the pigment (titanium dioxide) potentially wearing down printer nozzles faster than other colors. https://hackaday.com/2022/12/06/p...-filament/

Nozzles are cheap and are consumables anyway, and if you need white filament - you need white filament, so I wouldn't worry about it but for general purpose, I'd stick with black or other colors. The last time Monoprice had a similar sale on black PLA, I bought 1kg and it is good filament and I'd buy this but $9 shipping for a single spool or $12 for two kills the deal for me.

I used to love inland pla+ but at a certain point they must have changed manufacturer because the pla became a lot more brittle and it would snap while sitting on the spool on the printer.

Does anyone know if this is back to being good again?

I haven't had that issue with Inland PLA+. Sure you didn't get a bad roll? That's my go to filament.

I previously purchased this filament in white and black. I can confirm that the white prints a little differently. I haven't been able to tune my settings well enough yet to get the same great results that I get from their black filament.

Those 2 don't fit together...lol. If you are super new your aren't printing lithophanes. You are advance now.

Is anyone concerned about the wide variance in thickness at +/-0.10mm? That seems quite high compared to many other brands at +/-0.03 or better...

Was just there earlier this week and chatted with another buyer who really seemed to know his stuff, who said that it went like this:
  1. Inland is just branded eSun
  2. Normal Inland PLA became PLA+ when they got a new, cheaper version that became plain PLA
  3. Actual PLA+ became PLA Pro
  4. Tough PLA is something different entirely
So, if you like PLA and want regular PLA with good properties and easy printing, get PLA Pro. If you (Fosscad) print parts that need to be strong and durable, get Tough PLA.
