In the description, it says don't be afraid to put it in the dishwasher but then in the "Product Care Instructions‎", it says "Hand Wash Only". Which is it??

Probably hand wash. I have 3 contigo water bottles that have that same enamel/paint whatever they use, and now I have 3 stainless steel water bottles with no color on them after running them through dishwasher for a few months.

The actual volume of this is smaller than 16oz, it holds a really small amount of water

Lol what? No, I have it. It holds 16 oz of water, which is, a fairly small amount of water.

This isn't a very good bottle for a hike or similar as it is pretty small but it's great for just having on your desk at work.

They shared over the phone with me that it is top rack dishwasher safe but they recommend hand wash because the exterior finish may wear in the dishwasher.

Just buy Zojirushi... And don't even think twice about it... My coffee is still burning hot even by 2 pm when I poured it in at 7 am

the issue i have with zojirushi is the it is a little too good at retaining the temp LOL.
